Quick would be a great "value" pick for us. Some people say that any WR drafted in the first around outside of the top ten players taken usually don't develop until their second or third year. Quick could do that and it wouldn't cost us so much to draft him. He's got a lot of raw potential, but the only thing I'm worried about is that Daryl Drake will be the one developing him, and he's never done a really outstanding job with developing any of our WR's. He might do better at coaching them up with Jeremy Bates in as QB coach, but who knows?

The best part about all of this is that we would have two players who would 6'4". (Brandon Marshall being the other.) The Bears could use this versatility and have Quick as primarily a deep-threat guy while Marshall would be the "jack of all trades." For once, the Bears could be loaded with a pretty solid WR corps along with Bennett and, sad to say, Hester. (Hester and Bennett will probably be doing slot duty in all likely hood.

Dags two problems here. First of all Quick is not your basic "deep threat". He's not exactly slow (4.5's) but he's not a 4.3 "burner" either. He fits with the rest of the second tier guys like Toon, Jones, McNutt, etc. Think of him more as a smaller Brandon Marshall without Marshall's ability to take over a game. Quick will need time to develop so he's not an immediate 2012 starter as a #2 guy.
Second is the fact I keep pointing out. We gave Earl Bennett an $18 mil extension and we didn't do that to have him share time in the slot with Devin Hester or anyone else. Bennett is the 2012 #2 WR . He may line up in the slot at times in a 3 WR package but he'll see the field the majority of the time. So between him and Marshall it makes no sense to spend any 2012 pick on a guy to play #2 WR. Not gonna happen as long as the other two are healthy.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
Honey Badger Don't Care. Honey Badger Don't Give a Shit.

I don't know why I thought I read that he had a 4.35 time in the 40 yard dash. Oh well. I stand corrected.
Is this one of the primary reasons you are vehemently opposed to drafting a WR in the first round, even if we traded into the round somehow and had the opportunity to get Kendall Wright or Stephen Hill?

Dags,
If we could get some red zone and mid-field catches out of him this year, that would be great. But, you're fooling yourself if you think he's gonna be anything more that a #3 flanker this year behind Marshall & Bennett.
He has size and decent (not blazing) speed, but he's raw and from a small school. Faced lesser competition in college. I'm looking for him to give M&B a break here and there and be developed into a future #2 option. He's not a flanker this year.

Soul got to me on that one before you did. He said essentially the same thing. (But thanks, though.) But what I want to kn ow is that if we were to somehow trade into the first round for another pick and then go after someone like Wright or Hill, do you think he would see extensive time or would this receiver be doing the same thing as you and soul have suggested and working strictly as a "reliever" in football terms?

IF , IF the BEARS some how get another low round first pick, I'd be happy to package then together and move way up to get an OT. But hey thats just me. Caveman with a PC. no need to get 2 good picks in round 1, get the BEST.
Actually from what I've seen Quick's skill set is similar to Marshall"s. He's just raw. Breaks tackles, good hands, can go deep but also go across the middle. I think he's a little faster & quicker (no pun intended) than Marshall but not quite as big.
Go Bears!
