Such ineptitude for so long. We were pretty lucky that we didn't have Matt Millen. It's a shock that guy was allowed to do anything with football for so long.

Tell me about it, Zel. All of our good talent came in rounds three and lower with the exception of 2008, when we drafted Matt Forte and Chris Williams.

Some players don't produce like they're going to produce for a year or two or maybe three. How many people thought Mario Williams over Reggie Bush and Vince Young was a good pick? The Texans were ripped on for the pick all offseason and then all year but now that we're a few years removed from that draft everyone sings their praises.
Truth is you can't fairly assess drafts for AT LEAST three years. Sure it might be players the drafniks said would be good but if they knew anything they'd be in the war room. Why did Brandon Marshall and Lance Briggs last till the third round? Or Marques Colston to the seventh? None of us really know and won't know for awhile. He could pick all the people you want him to pick and it could turn out to be a terrible draft.
I dont think you got what I was saying. Im 100% sure we arent getting a finished product coming out of college man lol. I understand that it takes three years to develop.
Im bringing up impact players draft players that make a difference any difference to our season this year. Like the impact Hester and Anderson had for us the superbowl year. Thats what Im looking for. Got to have people contrubute in some fashion from day one. Im not saying being an all pro from day one. If we get a bunch of red shirt guys like JA man its just going to be same old shit. Even you can agree with that

I think Emery sees that mo and it's where he differs from JA. JA drafted too much on athleticism and their potential upside as NFL players. I think Emery wants NFL caliber players from the get go and that alone tells me he'll draft better as far as what you're talking about is concerned.
The other factor is that this is a pretty deep draft at certain positions as far as potential impact players are concerned and luckily a lot of that depth is where we want it to be in the lineman and the WR's. There's also some good middle round prospects at LB who may need a year of two but we've got that to give.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

I agree, soul, and I think that is exactly what we're going to see. I honestly wouldn't be shocked to see Emery, whose background stems from that of the New England Patriots, trade down and add picks that way to bolster depth.

Well we have to wait and see what happens. Talk is cheap we have heard the right words come out of Halas hall plenty of times only to see them draft red shirt player after red shirt player like we have that luxury. I'm hopeful cause we have a new regime but noone knows emery yet so to say he is different is blah until after this weekend. Other then that what he has to say leaves you optimistic we are going in the right direction

Emery has certainly done well in free agency with the signings of Michael Bush and Jason Campbell as well as the trade for Brandon Marshall. If this was still the Jerry Angelo regime, Mike Martz would still be our offensive coordinator, neither Bush, nor Campbell, nor Marshall would be Bears, and we would be stuck in limbo just like we were at the end of last year. The only thing that Emery has said that I don't agree with is that he agrees with Mike Tice in that he feels that Webb is an adaquete LT for Tice's offense. Other than that, he's done all the right things, made the right moves, and has mentioned different ways of going about his business with the draft that I would never in a million years have believed it possible to hear out of a Bears' GM.
