    Emery Press Conference

Today he mentioned that the Bears are targetting 7 players at 19.

    My Guess

    Quentin Coples
    Melvin Ingram
    Whitney Mercilus
    Michael Floyd
    Stephen Hill
    David DeCastro
    Michael Brockers

Wow, you do like WRs. With Marshall, Bennett, Hester, Knox (perhaps after PUP time), Weems and Thomas the Bears already have their usual six. Everybody likes Marshall, I like Bennett (great hands, gets open, tough) and like Hester as a #3. I have some hope for Weems, and like the idea of Knox and Thomas battling for the "who do the Bears resign as a speed guy." You figure they will keep 7 or cut Thomas?

I seriously don't think there are any WR's on his list Windy. If you catch what he said about where the strength of the draft lies positionally he practically tells you outright he won't take a WR early.

I'd be a bit surprised if he takes a WR with the 1st pick.

Unless there's some ridiculous fall by someone you "can't pass up", there's zero reason for us to even consider a WR until the 3rd at the earliest.

All we need out of this draft from the WR position is a (big) flanker prospect to develop behind Marshall & Bennett for a couple years. And there's plentty of options to last into the 3rd-4th. It wouldn't bother me at all to go OL + DL X 2 (in whatever order) with the first 3 picks.

Swap in Luke Kuechly for Hill. Less so maybe Nick Perry or Konz for Floyd.

So do you think the Bears might draft a WR in 3/4 round and keep 7 WRs or cut Thomas (no signing bonus, no great loss ... unless you like his potential) or do you figure Knox ain't coming back and goes from PUP to IR?

I think the Bears might try to go after a WR like Nick Toon in either the third or the fourth round. There are some mocks I've seen that have him projected to go that low. Personally, I think Nick Toon would be a great pickup and a steal in either round, and it would give soulman a boner that he will not be able to holster within his sheath since Toon played at Wisconsin.
