Mayock Mock Draft
2012 NFL Mock Drafts : Blackmon to Browns; Richardson to Bucs
Mayock Mock Draft
He has Mercilus at 18 to the Chargers and the Bears take Chandler Jones.

Give me DeCastro in this scenario.

Yeah I think Maycock's feelings about Jones are just too huge to be justified by this scenario. You don't pass on the second best Olineman in the draft for the fifth best Dlineman and 3rd best DE. Not when that Olineman is a certified blue chipper with future all-pro written all over him.
Take DeCastro out of there and Mercilus too and to me it would even be a tossup between Jones and Glenn.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Jones would be such a disappointing pick.

Where did all this Chandler Jones love come from? Obviously I know nothing otherwise I'd be somewhere scouting someone but I don't see where the hype came from. If we pick him obviously I hope it's all warranted and he's the next Peppers but for real.. what's so special about him?

For what it's worth, Kiper has us picking Mercilus and McShay has us going with Coples. So who knows?

I also wonder where all the Jones love comes from, but I have to be honest, I never watched him play. I will say this, I watched the NFL network show that this mock was released in. Mayock really made a convincing case for this kid and says in three years he thinks he will be one of, if not THE best D-Lineman in the league. That's pretty high praise from a guy that I consider to be a pretty good evaluator of talent, at least among the talking heads that we all watch.
At the very least, I feel alright with the pick if we go there. I would still like to have DeCastro if he's there, but again, I'm showing my O-Line bias. The reality is, if Jones is/will be that good then he would be a far more valuable pick than any O-Linemen save for a lock down LT.

They just played the sound bite of him talking up Jones on The Score this morning and I agree, he was pretty convincing. I know absolutely nothing about college players, but he sure had me drooling over Jones by the end of the sound bite. lol I just can't wait for tonight to see who we grab.

It was the best defensive player to come out of the draft. Not the best in the leauge.
Other notes:
-Has Nick Perry ranked at #49 overall on his draft board, despite him going to the Pats at #27. Does not care for Perry at all.
- Has John Gilmore ranked as the 8th best player in the draft this year despite him going to Philly at 15.
- Has McClellin ranked at #14, despite Packers grabbing him at 28
