With the focus on passing, most of the defenive focus is rightly going towards being able to disrupt the pass - specifically DE, DT CB, etc. That usually means that when focus is placed on one thing, something else suffers (human nature). I think that stopping the run has moved down the chain of priorities and while it is still important, most defensive resources are being spent on stopping the pass. I really think this gives us an edge as teams are not so much beuilding their defenses to stuff the run as much as they used to. With the three guys we have (and now a real passing attack - as long as Cutler can stay upright), having these three guys rotating will give some teams a hard time.Of course having said all of this means that Forte will be traded tomorrow....

This reminds me of a Diana Ross song called, "Stop (In the Name of Love)," and it goes like this: Stop, in the name of love, before you break my heart. I would be absolutely devastated if we got rid of Forte mainly because he's such a beast with the football. He's one of the top four or five running backs in the NFL, and he does everything well, including blocking, receiving, and of course running if the offensive line gets off its blocks.

Maybe I should get too hot and bothered over the scenario. After all, a trade for Forte could possibly land us a second first round pick plus a pick in the second or third round. I don't know how that would work, but I think it would be something major like that.

    Bell is back
    Forte hasn't signed anything yet
    Unga will be at Camp

more indications aren't needed for me to think that Emery is actively shopping Forte

REALLY good point about going against the trend(y). The ability to block will be undervalued in WRs (not by Lovie), the run blocker in OL undervalued by most teams etc. Doesn't mean I or "bearsinhouston" want Tebow, laughs. Still think running backs are fairly fungible.

I agree. If there's gonna be a deal, we should know pretty soon. I think the team intended just to rent him for the FT price and now would be happy to dump him.

I don't know about "happy" MP but "willing" seems like it might fit if the right offer comes along.

I was thinking that too. We might have seen the last of Forte.
