The Bears 7 Targets at 19

Not sure if this is reliable, but @ChicagoBearsDraftGuy on Twitter said his sources have given him the 7 players that Emery was referring to in his presser the other day. Again, this could be speculation, so take it as a grain of salt. (In no particular order)

    Melvin Ingram
    Whitney Mercilus
    Chandler Jones
    Quintin Coples
    Nick Perry
    Michael Brockers
    Bruce Irvin

It makes sense as far as need goes but I'd scratch a couple. After what I read from Dan Pompeii yesterday unless he was a willing or unwilling party to a massive smokescreen (which is entirely possible) it would seem that Coples isn't on that list.

Ingram won't fall that far so we can probably scratch him 100% and Irvin may be a stud but too much of a gamble to take in one because of his size. He would be a great Henry Melton like pick if we could get him in three or four though. Put him through the same program that we did with Melton and beef him up from 245lbs to 265-270lbs without losing any of his speed and mobility and we'd have a monster pass rusher but that would take at least another year if not two. In the meantime he's pretty much limited to being a 3rd down pass rush specialist from what I can see. I think a 3-4 team like Pitt would take him in one though.

I tend to agree with the majority that if they can take Mercilus they will. He's the kind of guy Marinelli will drool over. After that Brockers is a possibility if he falls that far but I see that as 50/50 at best. Guys who can play both inside and out are worth more than others which is another reason why, although he should be on this list, Fletcher Cox isn't likely to last either.

If Mercilus is gone, and he may be if teams pass on Coples and we don't like Coples either, then it comes down to Jones or Perry either of which would be good prospects to take over for Izzy at LDE. To me this whole thing pivots are where Coples goes. Are teams really that down on him or are they just tossing the usual pre-draft bullshit around hoping to drive other teams off of him?
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Apparently multiple teams in the 1st round are thinking about taking bruce Irvin and he has been high on scout boards since the end of the season.

Also there is a rumor that if Blackmon does not fall the Jags will take Mercilus.

I'm not scared what jaguars would do there is a reason why they consistently suck. Irvin in the first would be a complete waste of a pick
