Michael Floyd is a bust risk simply because of his history of off-field incidents with the law with regards to underaged drinking and DUI arrests. We talked about this to a great extent several months ago, and I think that Jeffery is the safer pick simply because he is a second rounder, and there's no pressure in developing him into a top-tier receiver really quickly, though I will say that the Bears will make it a priority to develop him as quickly as possible.

Boy, you couldn't as a worse guy. I thought for sure ONE of the picks today was going to be a DT or a OL. When we picked a WR with the third I was upset (although I really like the pick) because I thought with Marshall we could have pushed that down to a later round.
We needed another WR, a DE, a S, a CB, OL and DT (in my mind - I'm not sure they think we need a OL)
We already took a WR, S, and DE, so I'm going to have to go back to the well again and say they go with the other three tomorrow. Although either I am a moron or Emery is a genius (unfortunately they aren't mutually exclusive) - I haven't gotten close to guessing any of his picks.
We'll see. I see a few things I like. Emery is not afraid to get the highest guy on his list, no matter how much a reach anyone else thinks. I LOVE that. Now the second part of that equation is that he has to be right. At this point, I may not have picked who he picked, but until they fail, he's got my backing.
What do you think tomorrow?

Top-15 spect on the field who dropped because of non-criminal personality issues off it. He needs to stay motivated, keep his weight in check and learn an NFL route tree, but when you have his tape and ability, I take my chances every day of the week in the second. If he stays lean, I think the separation issues will clear up as well as the breaks in-and-out of routes. A professional training and nutritional program could do wonders for him. As I stated before, only 15% of guys drafted in the second are starters after four years, so you might as well swing out of your socks on these types of talent.

We could leave him off the field for 3 or 4 more play.... That should work

Dags I have to stick up for all my ND guys man. lol So I can't hide the fact that I'm a big Floyd fanboy. That being said, I'm just as excited about Jeffrey. The guy had a monster season a few years ago and I don't believe that was a fluke. With Cutler throwing to Jeffrey, I foresee another 1000yd receiver eventually. This guy could be a beast for us.

Crazy, how all we had to do was get rid of the Lovie Buddy and all of a sudden we went from small WR's to go up and get it guys...the ones Cutler and most other QB's like to throw to. If this guy can stay motivated and keep his weight down he should get a lot of minutes this year.

Yea it is pretty amazing how our WR corp has radically changed virtually overnight. Its about time we catch up with the times.

BBPB, did you know that Harrison Smith is from my hometown? He was Mr. Football in the state of Tennessee at Knoxville Catholic High School. Tennessee recruited him hard, but he ultimately opted to go to Notre Dame, probably because he was pressured to go there. (or he could have always wanted to go to ND...don't know for sure) I actually saw him play his senior year against my dad's high school alma mater in the state playoffs, and they lost in what had to be one of the greatest football games at any level I have ever seen in my entire life.

I've gotta believe that McClellin will be a very good fit for us. Emery has made several good moves IMHO & he knows a heck of alot more than me. The more I think about the pick, the more I like it. He can play several positions, is fast & has a nose for the football. Like you I like that he picks the highest guy on his board & moves on.
As far as tomorrow I'm with ya on OL help. We also could use a CB, LB & DT. But we only have 3 picks so we'll see what happens. Personally I like OT Massie, CB Josh Norman & Ryan Steed, & LB Bradham from FSU. But what the hell do I know! The only think I know is I'll be watching & posting on Dabears.com! Go Emery!

That's awesome Dags. Your hometown is making winners baby! lol HSmith would have looked real good in a Bears uniform too. Not surprised he went in RD 1. Was a very good S at ND and didn't really get the recognition until this year.
