I like how many of the people who were happy before the draft that we could go bpa in every round due to Emery's FA moves are now complaining about not filling needs. Looks and sounds to me like Emery did go bpa, but many of his bpa's differed from a lot of members' bpa so now he's getting ripped for it. I'm as stupid as a rock when my football intelligence is compared to Emery's and so are most everyone else who posts here. Because of that, I refuse to hammer the guy before one game has been played under his tenure. Sure, I was, and still am, a bit disappointed with some of the picks and especially for the fact we picked up zero OL talent, but I also don't know what the rest of Emery's offseason looks like. I'm at a wait and see stage, but I am encouraged by Emery's past draft record and the way he handled FA.

Gonna give it C+ I think that the first 3 rounds where done well, the 4th is where they dropped the ball. However I hope and think that we might turn our new TE into another Aaron Hernandez. The last two the just blew it sadly.

I'll give it a solid B.
McClellin & Jeffery should contribute right away and Hardin has a chance to beat out Major Whiff as well. Rodriguez also has a shot at playing time as a Rookie, but not a starting role. Only thing I was really disappointed with was not addressing the OL (though picking up James Brown as UDFA certainly helps) and not addressing DT. The rest of the draft I'm pretty happy with.

Round 1- B
Round 2- A+
Round 3- B+
Round 4 -C+
Round 6- C
Round 7-D
Cant truely tell until the season

A+
Seriously though, its asking someone that has no more knowledge of these players other than what they heard from some media hack to evaluate the guys that actually study and evaluate this shit for a living. It's pointless.

Thats why I said early grade. People love judging the draft immediately. So why not allow them to do so and vent or gloat? We won't know for sure for about 2-3 years, but whatever.

I'm a little shocked that he drafted so many corners while not going after a DT or OT or LB, but hey, who am I to argue with Jerry Angelo's replacement?
Sure thing my friend. I like the idea of keeping Rodriguez on the field most the time. Gives us what looks like a pretty good blocker & a receiving weapon which Clutts is not. Like Emery said, teams won't know if a run or pass is coming, usually forcing them to stay in their base defense which Rodriguez will create all kinds of matchup problems. Lets hope Forte gets signed one way or another, the OL gets a little through experience & scheme & this offense will be like nothing we have ever seen in Chicago!

I think it's valid to put a grade on the draft as far as a grade on what the players look like on film, perceptions of need as well as ability to contribute, etc as of the date of the draft and then grade it again 2 years later. not too many drafts have the same grade two years later, but I think it's still a valid exercise in that it grades upon percieved value, needs, ability to stay healthy and contribute as best can be determined currently.
Here is a grade from SI that I just saw. Interesting that all of the comments were pretty much the same comments that had been made on the board yesterday. The grade given was a C. I had given them a C+ (but hey, I'm a homer and that's close enough anyway as the grades only reflect perceptions and expectations at this point anyway).
Chicago Bears: Can Shea McClellin develop into the pass-rusher Chicago needs? Will Alshon Jefferey stay in shape? Is Brandon Hardin healthy? The Bears took some risks early and nabbed a couple of borderline prospects late. Grade: C

I like the Alshon guy better than Stephen Hill, that is all.

Me too, as long as he avoids the 15 pounds of extra weight that hurt his speed, he looks as good as any WR in this draft except maybe Blackmon. In just a few short months this franchise has come a long way, especially offensively, since the dark days of January when JA and MM still roamed Halas Hall. We actually have an OFFENSE finally that we don't have to make excuses for!
Now, will Forte put aside his pride and join the party?
