Our defense has evolved since bringing in Peppers, getting legit NT, and getting rid of one trick pony anderson to become one of the best run stopping teams. Im scared this pick brings us back to the anderson days on dline and you cant deny that is the concern here

as far as why Tice say that about webb well several things. Tice is probably sick of being called a jack ass sticking with webb through everything. Another thing probably to light a fire under his lazy ass cause he is the laziest mother fucker I have seen as a OT since Q Mitchel. Lovie did it to Melton last year and it worked

Our G arent as good as you make them out to be. Its not a strength they are weak. We cant even get good yardage on short downs. I guess thats why they are dead last in interior rushing.

Im sticking to my guns here some coaches are loved and some are hated. No matter what circumstance is a reputation determines analysis. Everyone hates martz and blames him for everything so its all his fault yet no wrs around and no oline I wonder why it didnt work out. People like Tice and make every excuse in the book for him saying he has done well with a oline yet its ranked one of the worst two years in a row lol yup that is fine damn work. Well what you expect it to be with no real investment is how I look at it. Same with Marinelli he did jack shit with our dline until we got Peppers.

But he is more than a "one trick pony" mo. Watch his game tapes. The kid is all over the place making plays. He can play the run just as well as any other guy we could have taken and better than most. You think Mercilus could do everything this kid can?? Think again.

Mercilus would have been far more your situational guy than McC. There is no way Mercilus could have come in and played LDE this year. At best he would have been a 3rd down guy at LDE and a sub for Pep at RDE. Of those two we got the better guy. I just never in a million year thought we'd see that and take him. I can tell you that if JA was still here we wouldn't have. We'd have ended up with Perry or Jones and the Pats or Pack would have McC.

Webb isn't lazy.....he's slow and I don't mean his foot speed. Our OG's will be fine. Better than last year and we didn't run well in short yardage because Forte is a shitty short yardage back yet 50% of the time they still used him that way instead of using Barber or Bell who were both better at it. Tell me this again after this season now that we have Bush.

The Oline ranked last according to who????? Some other fuckheads like the guy from Bleacher Report who rate on the basis of God knows what???? Mo, stop reading that crap and use your eyes. If you recorded any of those games last year go back and watch them. They aren't the Bruise Brothers but they aren't as bad as every body wants to say they are. Tice has run some good Olines and Holt has coached up pro-bowl lineman too so give it a chance.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

The kid had almost 1000 yards receiving in 2010 and was on his way to similar numbers in 2011 and had the second best ypc avg. in the NFL before he got hurt. How many 1000 yard 19.0+ ypc 5th round picks have been in the league the last two years?

How about Earl Bennett as a 3rd round pick? He's one of the most dependable 3rd down receivers in the NFL and only his injuries and losing Cutler cost him some decent 2011 stats. Bennett is about as dependable a WR as you could ask for.

Like I said, I'm not a huge Drake fanboy but Angelo didn't draft any top prospects for him either. As far as I'm concerned you could only point to Hester as a a true failure as far as producing a #1 guy but it was foolish to think he ever had that ability to begin with. That was JA's pipe dream and it had about 10% chance of ever working. Knox was never drafted with the idea that he'd be a #1 guy. His game is too limited for that. Same with Bennett.

Drake never really had a #1 prospect to develop so I can't tell whether he can or not. All I know is he wasn't able to with the material he was provided with. But I can't make Filet's out of Cube Steak either.

They ain't rocket ships shorty but they're not exactly paper airplanes either.

Bennett had talent as well as a previous rapport w/Jay. Knox has speed but Drake failed to correct even slant route adjustments which isn't a talent thing if you talking small adjustments.

As far as Hester I remember the whole big argument on here: "he isn't a #1 go up and get it guy". Pretty quiet on that front now lol. How much greater would Tice be or focused if he didn't have all these conversions and position adjustments- just innate talent that knew the position and have been playing there awhile since HS?

I'm even keel on this. I do expect improvement. But in the same token I also expect solid legitimate attempts to get better at a foundational position. All the years of seeming neglect makes putting an equitable attempt at obtaining talent not much to ask esp. from a new GM.

I don't disparage anything you have said Soul but I do believe there is however another look to it.

and I was never on the merciulus bandwagon. I liked Perry though and I think Jones was more hype then anything else. If you remember Coples was my DE of choice

Soul is right about McClellin. McClellin is a three down LDE already, while Mercilus will take some time to develop into one. We needed someone to come in right now and contribute to the team in the fullest way possible, and I think we got just the guy to do that.

Well,if that's the case - and there's no reason to think it's not - Emery steered clear of all the media noise and honed in on the best DE available at 19. That's what we had hoped he would do. All we can do now is wait for the play on the field and see if it's true...

I think McClellin has the potential to be a Dwight Freeney/Robert Mathis/Cliff Avril-type of DE. I really do. He was vicious in the tape I watched of him. He can rush the passer and defend against the run, and I don't care what people say, he is a good run defender.

I wish he'd think about eating some DE's for lunch then. From what I hear most of them are pretty low in body fat so I'm thinkin' lo-cal ya' know.

LOL, I'm not a social network guy either. You guys are the only online social network I'm interested in. That and "Horny Housewives With Twin Sisters That Enjoy Threesomes".

Man, that's downright scary. When I first read that post, I said to myself "Well, why doesn't he go eat some DE's?" and then you actually posted it.

    warped minds think alike....

I've always dreamt of being involved in a menage a trois.

One of those dudes looks like Leonardo DiCaprio. He always was an effeminate pretty boy. Meanwhile, the girl looks pretty hot! I just love hot brunettes!

Then there's this guy (Marquis de Sade). What a sexual libertine he was! The French really know how to grow fuckers, and have for centuries!
