I think the other factor in addition to simplifying things for them will be the level of competition in camp. This isn't a handful of vets with a bunch of rookies vying for backups spots this is a whole bunch of vets with NFL starting experience knocking heads with one another for 5 starting spots and if we can assume that Garza and Carimi are untouchable then it's really 3 spots with about at least 6 or 7 guys competing for them. Nobody want to lose out since a being a backup Olineman means the only time you'll see the field in game is if somebody gets hurt. You don't rotate guys in and out like you do on the Dline.
Among the 9-10 vets who will be competing with one another in camp there are 3 former 1st round picks and a high 2nd round pick in addition to the usual collection of mid and late round picks and UDFA's and every single one of these guys has been an NFL starter at least part of their careers. Even if you don't believe in the overall talent ya' gotta like the experience they bring to the table.
These guys may not be all-pros but I believe they're gonna look a whole lot better right from the start than they did last year and next spring we won't be quite so down in the mouth over nothing having been done about the Oline.
