    Let's upgrade our OL

Plaxico Burress, Ryan Grant among best remaining free agents - NFL.com

OL Jason Brown among best remaining free agents

OL Jason Brown: It wasn't that long ago that the Rams were making Brown the highest-paid center in league history, as he left Baltimore for greener pastures. Brown didn't play up to that contract, though I would also point out that those Rams teams were pretty bad. And at least when Steven Jackson was healthy, Brown helped contribute to the running game. The financial risk with him would be much less now; one year in the range of $2 million would get it done. Brown can play center or guard and was a very solid starter in Baltimore for much of his career. He's still young enough, having just turned 29, and Baltimore had made a contract offer to him a few weeks back, but the drafting of Gino Gradkowski alleviated that need behind Matt Birk.

He may not be the perfect size fit in every scheme, but his versatility and athleticism make him plenty attractive to a team with a need on the offensive line. He's started nearly 90 games in the league, never missed a college game at North Carolina and is a bright player who can quickly grasp an offense.
Can someone explain to me why we haven't contacted this guy yet? Jason Brown is definitely better than what we have right now and we could sign him to a one-year deal. Our OL is still our biggest issue, don't forget that.

    Go get him!

If they are only going to keep the 8 on the active roster that their happy with that's probably why they aren't going after anyone.

I know we keep hearing how our O line is the biggest issue on this team. But really do we really have any idea, we have no idea what the palyers have been doing during the off season to improve the technique or skill sets. At this point we don't even know who is going to play where this year. Last year is a very bad year to judge players play on the O line since there was no off training as a very short perseason as well traing camp. For all we know Webb has spent all winter working on his techinique and skill sets, so as to improve he play at LT this year.

Good players don't stop just because the season end, they workout during the off season. The lockout hurt a lot of players last year, hopefully some of our O line have taken full advantage of the use of our facilities to improve the play.

Again, how can you be happy and satisfied with the offensive linemen we've got right now?

    Why? Well here's one reason.

    2014 UFA
    $2.6 million guaranteed

    And here's another;

    Chris Spencer

    Center
    Drafted:Round 1 (#26 overall), 2005
    College: Ole Miss

    Current Salary Information

    Contract:2 yr(s) / $6,000,000 Signing Bonus $2,000,000 Average Salary $3,000,000 End Year:2012 Free Agent:2013 / Unrestricted
Base Salary S. Bonus Misc. Bonus Cap Hit
    2011 1,250,000 1,000,000 - 2,250,000
    2012 2,250,000 1,000,000 500,000 3,750,000
    2013 UFA
    • Signing Bonus: $2 million

I think if they believe he could come in an take a job away from either Garza or Spencer and probably be a starter then maybe it's worth it but if not why bother. You don't really save any money and in both cases you take a cap hit for the remainder to $4.6 mil in SB's we gave them last year.

I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Well, I believe he's a better offensive lineman than Garza and Spencer. What about you?

I'm not a big fan of this signing either. ^^ I think Emery made another mistake by going after that guy instead of drafting a big name OL.
