Bingo Zel. He's never been the "standout" guy who made people sit up and take notice as a "cover corner" because that's not his game. But you're right nellie he should have been recognized long ago for what was "his game". The guy has created more turnovers than any other CB in the league over the past 5 years and it seems someone finally began to take notice of that value in that while the "glamor boy" cover corners like Asomugha were falling flat on there asses.
Not only is Peanut a very good all around "football player" but he's a very decent human being and a team leader as well. To me he's like the Earl Bennett of the defense. He may have a few years on Earl but Peanut is "Mr Consistency" out there and you can usually line him up against the best the NFL has to offer and know you can count on him to give you a good game against them.
He's always been one of my favorite Bears players and he reminds me of the DB's we had back in the 80's like Leslie Frazier or Dave Duerson. Those guys were great football players and they were smart and dependable. That's what Peanut brings to the table too.

Peanut doesn't need to have all the accolades that go along with being the best at what he does. He gets enough kudos from his teammates, his coaches, and the fans. It was only this year that fans from across the league began to take notice at just how he's able to create takeaways and defend receivers on passing routes. In that respect, he's every bit as good as Woodson, Asomugha, and Revis. He's not a poster boy for "bad ass-ness", but he doesn't have to be.

Frazier reminded me more of Revis than Peanut back in the day.

For years I've read so many articles from CHI papers slamming Tillman time and time again. Now they want to swing from his nuts. I don't get it. I've always found him to be a very good corner based on what he's asked to do in the Tampa 2. And as has been stated, no defensive back in the league strips the ball better than him. Tillman has been under appreciated for a very long time and he's one of the best corners to ever put on a Bear uniform.

You know who is near the top of the list every year at forced fumbles? Defensive linemen and Tillman.

Yep, he's just a pimp when it comes to stripping. He'll definitely be a position coach when he retires, if he wants to.

Are you saying Tillman should be our fourth DT?

I think he's just a little small for that.

Just the Chicago writers looking for someone to find fault with. He's gone up against the best in the business and come away the victor more times than he hasn't.
I remember that Viking game a few years back when he made Randy Moss his "bitch for the day" by taking away a sure TD pass that would have won the game for the Vikes. There are no stats kept by anyone but the team on the number of game saving or game changing plays he's made with turnovers but I'm betting the number is significant.
Like Dags said, his team knows just how valuable a player he is and so do fans that follow the team. He's been hosed as far as post season honors go for years and I'm just glad others are seeing the same things we are. He's one of the best all around CB's in the league.
