I think Bennett is not being mentioned because as alluded to he will be used as the wildcard, who is also third down specialist. They'll plug him in all over and he'll see plenty of snaps this year. He is taken for granted because he is that "Ole reliable" type. I'm sure nfl teams across the league would love a guy like Bennett on their squad.

When did performance become a criteria for Drake being able to keep his job?

I think he has pics of Lovie in a bathtub with his rubber ducky or something he's using to blackmail him with. LOL

(Sigh) Do we really need to hear this from Drake one more time? I'm on the side of "if Devin Hester can do all these wonderful things then get his ass out there and in a position to make it happen". I am sick and tired of watching him being misused in the offense and having his extra snaps there cause a negative impact of his return game.
He's a future HOF Return Specialist and he'll never be anything more than a decent #3 type WR. He needs to be on the field for maybe 25-30 snaps per game and no more. This 70 snaps per game is nonsense and IF they do that it's just one more example of misusing him. The guys needs to used as a thoroughbred not a plow horse.
Darryl Drake has finally be given some top shelf talent to work with and if we don't see a marked improvement in our receivers and the passing game this year then I hope Lovie finally ships his ass back to Texas. So far I thing his coaching skills seem to put him in the "big hat, no cattle" category. If Devin Hester had the goods to be an every down WR he'd have been one by now!
Chicago Bears receivers coach defends Devin Hester's role

Chicago Bears wide receivers coach Darryl Drake on Sunday defended Devin Hester's role in the offense after the team drafted South Carolina wideout Alshon Jeffery in the second round of the NFL draft, according to ESPN Chicago.
"I promise you Devin's not reading press clippings about Alshon Jeffery," Drake said. "Devin Hester don't give a crap. He's gonna go out there and play."
The Bears' coaching staff has spent the weekend refuting speculation that the electric kick returner's role in the offense would be diminished with the team's depth at wide receiver.
Chicago traded for Miami Dolphins wideout Brandon Marshall in March.
"The talent has always been there (for Hester)," Drake said. "It's just a matter of not having him play 70 plays a game and throw to him twice." (Jeezus but I'm getting sick of this annual pitch for patience, understanding and believing something different than our eyes tell us. Either stop misusing the guy out on the end of the line or stop trying to blow smoke up our collective asses Darryl. Play him in the right spot and move him around and you may be partly right and that's about it)
The Bears, however, are very high on Jeffery, possibly setting up a training camp battle with Hester as the team's third receiver. (Well, well, well, for the first time without even mentioning his name it appears that Earl Bennett is considered at the Bears #2 WR or at least that's what this seems to be saying)
"He's going to have the ability for us to make plays," Tice said of Jeffery, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. "You can tell that he's going to be a playmaker for the Bears for 2012, and hopefully for many years to come."
Tice beat back speculation last week that Hester would no longer be an every-down receiver in Chicago. "Devin is going to be on the field," Tice said. "If he's not on the field, then they should fire me." (Fine and if he doesn't produce the way you boast that he will I hope you do)
Special teams coordinator Dave Toub also reiterated that Hester is the team's top kickoff returner after the team signed free agents Eric Weems and Devin Thomas to help return kicks

As long as the new offense scores lots of points, then I'm alright. Give the D plenty of rest.

Soul we have to continually hear that jargon cause that is all drake has to hang his hat on. He doesn't have much bragging rights lol

This is utter bullshit, but at least they're making it out to sound like that Earl Bennett is going to be the team's number two wide receiver. Frankily, I think the number two receiver should be Jeffery just because of his size. We didn't draft him that high to do nothing but ride the pine part of the time.

Settle down Dags. He may not be as big but right now Earl Bennett is a better receiver than Alshon Jeffery. All four of them will see some playing time.

I'm settled, I'm settled. But I'm not convinced that Jeffery is not better than Bennett. First, you have to prove to me that Bennett can stay healthy enough to produce for us. Second, Bennett is not as big as Jeffery, and Jeffery is adept at running fairly good routes, has good speed, and has pretty good hands in his own right. But I do understand that the Bears are caught between a rock and a hard place because of the big contract to which they signed Bennett.
