Alshon Jeffery sits out Chicago Bears' practice with leg cramps
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears wanted to get a good look at second-round draft pick Alshon Jeffery playing wide receiver at this weekend's rookie minicamp, but a case of leg cramps led to an abbreviated look Friday.
New offensive coordinator Mike Tice is giving the rookies their first look at his new offense, which he says will attempt to produce big plays and use team speed. Tice has installed the offense twice with veterans at team meetings that began April 16, and will do so again at upcoming organized team activities and full-squad mini-camp. The Bears' defense has one less problem to worry about as first-round draft pick Shea McClellin signed a four-year deal Friday. Should we be concerned?

Unless it's really something else, no. He could've been a little dehydrated or something as simple as that

Speaks to his conditioning though; and his work ethic was what got to fall into the 2nd. he's got plenty of time to get himself into the correct condition. I'm not going to worry until the real TC and Pre Season.

Yeah, there was another article that talked about how these rookies spend the whole offseason getting into combine/pro day shape but that's pretty different from NFL practice shape so cramps and the like are to be expected as they gradually get conditioned to NFL speed. With more conditioning (and bananas) he should be fine.

Dehydration, low potassium levels, etc could be the cause. It's not like it's terminal condition. There have been times when I'll wake up and stretch my legs while still lying in bed and I'll get the most painful leg cramps you could imagine. So bad I need to massage the knot out myself and it feels like there's a fist balled up under the skin squeezing the nerves in my leg or calf.
It's usually coming from being slightly dehydrated which as dry as it can get out here isn't all that surprising. If Jeffrey has been working out and dieting too trying to keep his weight in check his electrolytes could be messed up and his potassium level very low and that could be a cause as well.
PB is right. More water, banana's or any other source of potassium and some work to to stretch those muscles out to train them to relax without cramping will probably solve his problems. It's not serious except to him when it happens. They can be extremely painful.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
