    "Shrek" Webb???

He's the only one I really have much concern about and if they'll hedge their bet by shifting CWill back to LT to compete with him then my concerns will lessen.

I'll just repeat what I have before concerning Webb. I don't think his problems are coming from the shoulders down. He has the size and the athleticism to be a dominant LT but he lacks the playing skills on the football field. That I think is a problem causes by what's between his ears.

I just don't think he '"gets it" yet and until he does he's gonna be a liability in pass protection because he gets outsmarted by the better rushers. They set him up and he falls for it time after time after time. I think that's exactly why he handled Jared Allen in the first game and not the second. Allen went back, looked at some vids, re-planned his attack and ate him alive in the second game despite the fact that Webb was probably blocking better the than he was earlier in the year.

CWill on the other hand seemed to be "getting it" last year. With some of these guys it takes a couple of years and because of his injuries last year was more like CWill's second that his third. If he can convert what he's learned from LG to LT whether or not his physical skills measure up to Webb's his mental skills will make him a better pass blocker.

In the running game you need to move people out of the way but in the passing game you just need to figure out how to get in their path to the QB and stay there long enough for your QB to deliver the ball. Maybe this is where the more intelligent player trumps the "ogre". Whatever the outcome we need two guys competing for LT and from what I can see Webb and CWill are about the only game in town unless we move Carimi.

So it's like, I'm willing to sigh in resignation and hope these guys know what they're talking about when they tell us the line will be just fine, against the thought of watching arguably the most viable quarterback in franchise history (yeah, I said it) get his bell run unnecessarily.

But what can you do... and there you are.

And it's absolutley true that Mike Tice has a well-earned reputation for coaching up offensive linemen.

Imagine what he could do with a blue-chipper or two
    .

Well it looks like he may get that chance mats. Carimi fits that description to a tee and if he stays healthy, and I don't see any reason he won't, then he one guy who could develop into an All Pro OT with the right coaching. Another guy Tice has a chance to build up is Rachal. That kid was a "blue chipper" coming into the NFL so if Tice and Holt can do a "Phoenix" job on him and resurrect his career from the ashes they may have a very good OG on their hands. CWill seems to be improving and if they can help him make the swing back to LT to replace Webb it would be great.

I think this year is truly a test of their coaching skills. The Bears were convinced enough in what he could do with these guys to pretty much "stand pat" this offseason so it's sink or swim time for that Oline. Either they come to play or if I'm Emery I get a big broom and sweep away the trash and rebuild next spring. This year guys will be playing for more than just a job. They'll be playing for their careers in the NFL. Seattle can't possibly sign all of our rejects.

Compared to OMG Omiyale, Webb's a pro-bowler. But yes, he is now the weakest link on this team.

That said, I think we will have less pressure on our O-line. With our multiple down-field threats, as well as a strong run game (whoever that may be), we won't be seeing 8 in the box anymore. Webb will know who his guy is, and he will have help. We won't have 3 guys and Webb blocking 8, we'll have 5 guys blocking 4. And don't forget, Cutler is so used to having no time in the pocket, that even 2 seconds will seem like an eternity. So if they send the farm, Cutler will have so many guys open to dump off to, they won't stand a chance.

Okay, I'll put the kool-aid back in the fridge now.

I don't know why you missed the quantum leap CWill made as a blocker last year. He graded out as a top guy until he went down mo. I think too many have decided that he's a bust because we drafted him to play LT and he's never been able to hold that spot. Despite the fact that he's suffered through injuries and been moved more often than Milton was in "Office Space" he's still improved his game greatly over what he was as a rookie.

He's in the last year of his deal and it's time to find out whether or not he can play the position he was drafted to play. This offseason is the perfect time to do that. We've got all of the OTA's plus camp and some preseason games to see how he stacks up and I think there's at least a 50/50 chance he can take the job away from Webb. If not we still have a very good LG. We must have been watching different guys last year mo because I thought his play was pretty decent.

Is you name Jim Jones? LOL

I don't know if I would say that Webb is a Pro-Bowler compared to OMG, but I do agree that he's marginally better. That being said, we need to address the LT position and pronto. If we can have Chris Williams challenge Webb and either Webb shits or gets off the pot or he loses out to Chris Williams, we'll be all the stronger for it.

And you're right about the passing scheme. Our running game was already strong, but where we're going to earn our daily bread is throwing the ball down field. I have a feeling this offense is going to put up a lot of points this season.

makes sense that Cutty says this now, before the workouts start and after the Free Agency has the good guys gone and after the Draft.

Cutty puts pressure on them to work hard and get better

Cutler is a no-bullshit kind of guy. He didn't put up with it with Martz and he's not going to let the organization short change him an opportunity at being the most successful quarterback he can be.

I don't know about that one. It almost sounded like he was a little bit in that comment he made about Webb panning out and Carimi coming back healthy. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, though. I tend to over analyze stuff all the time.
