The speed limit on our Interstate Highways is 75mph but you can pretty safely do 80-85mph without getting stopped unless some state trooper has a burr under his saddle. Guys driving at 100mph plus isn't unheard of either if they're going through long stretches of relatively deserted or ultra rural parts of the country like Montana or Wyoming.

In the cities it's different but there's always fools like this guy driving hot cars who have no idea just how much that horsepower can really ruin your whole day if you don't ease it on slowly. This idiot must have been driving that car for the first time not to have realized it. He's obviously got more money than brains.

I had a friend who worked for a Ferrari dealership here in Denver and some years ago I got a chance to drive one around a very deserted parking lot one Sunday morning. Jeezus, that was like driving a rocket sled. Going 0-60mph in less than 3 seconds pins you back against the seat hard and you need to be careful not to step harder with your right foot on the accelerator or you'll loose control just like it looks like he did.

He accelerated too fast around that turn and the four wheels broke traction so he backed off the gas but when the tires caught traction again he was angled right into the other lane and when that happens you're there just like you were shot out of a gun. When those high RPM engines spool up that power comes on real suddenly and of you're not careful you lose it fast. I was fishtailing all over that parking lot until I could get the "touch" on the pedal. After he gets his car back from the shop it looks like this guy needs to go find a parking lot to go practice in for awhile himself.
Why do you even have speed limits if you don't drive after them. I think they're there for a reason and not just for fun. :D

Speeding tickets are money makers for the municipality or county where they're issued. They're posted for safety and orderly traffic flow and it's not that no one pays attention to them but most will cheat them a little to the high side. There's a little streak of defiance in all American drivers as far as posted speed limits are concerned.

Are you trying to tell me that all of you Danes are ever obedient to your traffic laws and no one ever drives over the speed limit?

Because if that's what you're trying to get me to believe I call whatever the Danish word for "horseshit" is on you.

The number of people who drives after the speed limit is very very high. There is a lot of highway patrols, and police to keep things in order. I drive after the speed limits, and my guess would be 75% does aswell.

Pretty much the same here too pal. In many cases out on the freeways if all we drive is the speed limit every car on the road would be passing us up. Out west we have a lot of wide open spaces so there are long stretches of highway where the cops don't get too tough on you for speeding as long as you're not doing it recklessly. There are even some places so remote they don't even bother to enforce it at all.
