May 21, 2012 Boise State remains committed to its move to Big East

Boise State officials are attending the current Big East Conference meetings in Orlando and it's appears the Broncos are fully committed to making the move to its new league next season.

"Obviously they made a decision five months ago to join the Big East Conference and nothing has changed," Boise State athletics director Mark Coyle told reporters, according to the Orlando Sentinel. "We're here at the Big East meetings and it's great to learn a great deal about the conference and it's direction."
Reports had indicated the school could reverse course and stay with the Mountain West Conference after the new postseason model being debated likely will not include an automatic BCS berth for the six major conference.
Coyle denied discussions with the Mountain West and said the loss of the automatic berth was not a consideration.
"No, not at all," Coyle said. "I mean when the decision was made that was part of the thought process that that AQ would go away so that wasn't part of the process when we made the decision."
The school also must find a new home for its other 18 athletic teams with the football-only move to the Big East.
One possibility was the Western Athletic Conference, however that league is in serious trouble with the pending loss off all but two of its football schools.
"We still have conversations with them (WAC) and we're just trying to gather information," Coyle said. "It's changing for everybody and we're in a little bit of a unique spot because of the WAC and what they have gone through with some of the transformations that they've had in their conference, we continue to talk with everybody and try to find the best long-term solution for our institution."
"When that decision was made five months ago, we feel like it gives our program an opportunity on a national level with our institution and what we are trying to do from that stand point."
