Also if they don't look at what you do in the past, why would what Forte's TD's, First Downs matter? that's in the past. Anyone saying he's not worth 20 mil and stating that is why the Bears are not willing to pay him that is talking out both sides of their mouth b/c that is looking at past performance.
Logic dicates to negotiate a future contract after a rookie contract the team HAS to look at past performance. It's required to figure out what someone should be paid. The hard part is to discern how that projects into the future.
All of it asked and answered Ric. All of it. You're beating a dead horse. Even JJ told you no NFL player will be paid for past performance and he should know.

Soul, you again are talking out both sides of your mouth. They don't pay for past performance, but it is looked at. It HAS to be; and therefore it matters which is the point. I didn't say, nor did anyone say they did get paid, but it has to be looked at.
Show me where I said, well he has 5K yards, 20 Td's, 2 fumbles etc etc(all made up btw) therefore they have to pay him for doing 20 mil? Who said that? BUT all those #'s(whatever they are) mean something in negotiations, you've said it, JJ said it Benj said it; and then all of a sudden it was well they don't pay for past performance so it's all moot.
They have to look and say, well you did x y z we expect a% reduction over b many years; and the players side will then counter saying no reason to look at reduction i'm still on the upswing, or hey we think it's only c% recution over d many years.

At least Forte is in good company with his crazy contract request of $8.5 million a year. Ray Rice wants $10 million a year. I wish you both well because it ain't happening fellas. Not in CHI, not in BAL.

Semantics or misunderstanding Ric. Call it whatever you like. The Bears will pay what the Bears will pay. I've explained why in as many ways as I can and I'm worn out talking about it. Next topic. When Forte shows up we'll know what the deal is and until then we can only guess. This is becoming a circular argument and all we're doing is covering ground that's already been covered so may times it looks like it got stampeded by a herd of Buffalo.

It's not Fosters or McCoys fault that they have a good offense around them... Forte was worse than McCoy and Foster last year. He was our only offensiv weapon last year, that's why his numbers look that good. He can't score a TD to save his life. I don't think this will change.

I still say pay the man... I consider 16-18 million guaranteed as "pay the man". He is not worth more than McCoy, MJD or Foster. All he has is that stupid Williams contract.
He will sign the FT after pre season, will suck at the beginning of the season because of all the missed time and will end up on Injury reserve to finish the season after week 4 or 5.
Bears won't FT him again because of the lack of numbers he already has and another longtime injury. Forte would wish he would have signed what the Bears offered him.
