IF J'Marcus Webb DOES prove to be a rock solid LT this season...
"Webb has outstanding size with good power and deceptive athleticism.....He needs to improve his overall game to become a consistent lineman but has the size and raw talent to develop into an excellent offensive tackle."
In spite of all the hand wringing and worry about the LT position, IF Webb is solid this season, the rest of the oline is set for a great year. The scouting reports on Webb seem to point out he has a lot of raw talent. He's being coached by one of the best oline coaches in football. He'll have an off-season to improve (last season it was a killer to be robbed of the off-season work, for young guys like Webb).
If Webb takes a step this season, I believe the oline will be one of our best assets rather than being the perennial Achilles heal.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

I hope he makes huge strides. I still believe it's going to take some years to develop him. I think he would make greater strides learning as a swing tackle/backup and getting some confidence back.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.

judging by his tweets, he doesn't let his performance get in the way of his confidence.

When Webb shows he can handle the LT spot, a lot of Bears fans will be eating a bag of dicks.

He had a few really promising games last season while facing some great DE's. And yet, he looked like crap in other games. Those solid games that he did have last year, makes me believe he CAN be solid, but he is still a work-in-progress.
When you look at the players we have at the other 4 positions on the oline, we look pretty good IMHO. We even have some decent depth. I love how Tice has brought in big, massive, physical players rather than the lighter guys we had under past coaches. If Webb does pan out this year, we should have one of the most exciting offenses in the NFL to watch. It will be a great year to be a Bears fan.

How cool would it be if he turns into a beast LT. He's only got one season at LT in which he has no offseason. It would beyond wonderful to have a quality LT for our team that we locked up in the 7th, what a steal if it works out.

It would be incredibly cool. The lack of an off-season to work at LT before his first year at LT was tough. To me it is perfectly understandable that he would struggle trying to learn one of the most difficult positions at the NFL level - kind of like on the job training. I respect Tice's judgement here. He clearly sees something special in Webb.
If you look at the best offensive linemen in the history of the NFL, it is amazing how many were late round picks, or even guys like Jeff Saturday & Jay Hilgenberg who never were drafted at all. Just as amazing (to me anyway) is how many oline players drafted in the 1st round end up busts. So it's not crazy to think a guy like Webb could pan out in spite of being a 7th round pick. At least we can hope

They don't have enough faith in him to not consider Chris Williams again at LT. i wish they would've addressed that early in the draft.

Glad this came up because he could very well make some strides
No offseason last year was a back breaker imo
