no but just the image of spencer at LG .............this oline is too mis managed to death.

I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

then webb starts lol its just an ugly circle

Well for this year it's all we've got so might as well make the best of it. Apparently Emery believed Tice's evaluation of his guys enough to pass on lineman until he signed Brown. It won't take very long after the season opens to find out whether Emery made a mistake.

First of all, "when" should be replaced with "if", and as many on here have said, I would love to see SOMEONE including, WEBB take the next step up to a real NFL Left Tackle. I don't think there is anyone on this board or any other Bears board that would not LOVE to see the Bears LT spot manned by a competent player. We just differ on whether or not that potential is there. I know nothing of either of these guys (Webb/CWill) personally and I could care less where they were drafted. I strictly look at it from their play. Frankly, I think Chris Williams will have to take a sizable step up to be a "good" LT, but I think Webb will need to take two GIANT steps to even be adequate, and I just don't think he has the potential to make that much of an improvement. I don't care who the OC is, if we want to have an offense that does not require a TE or RB holding the hand of the LT on every passing play, then someone needs to get it done.
Everyone always fawns over Webb's "physical" gifts, but I see two major problems in his game:
1. He has the size to be magnificent (but many guys have come and gone that have such size), but his athleticism is FAR, FAR over rated. He is neither as quick, or nimble as The Bears advertise and his supposed balance and footwork are also less than people think.
2. When he gets beaten, it is usually due to being fooled and not overpowered, but his "amazing" atheticism is not good enough to overcome his mental lapses.
So, what will the line be "if" Webb beats out CWill this year? We will have to wait and see if Webb has improved at all, because we will not be privy to the coaches discussions. If he plays as poorly as he has in his first two years, then I suppose it will be the same it has been, that CWill may still be better than Webb, but that our LG options are even worse. Many suggest we have a dearth of OG's, and that's true, but quantity does not equal quality and it is STILL my opinion that (Outside of Williams and Garza) we do not have a single OG that would be a hands down starter for any other team. They are all borderline starters, if not back-ups.
I think it will be interesting to see, but unless we see some crazy improvement from someone, I expect this year will be the same as last, with Tice trying guys in different spots and trying to assemble a patchwork of protection from the tallest group of midgets. I like many of the moves Emery has made, and I do think this team has made some great strides. I do not want this criticism to sound like I'm disappointed with the Bears and their off season moves, but the weakest part of this team is still the same as it has been for the last three years and nothing was done to make it better other than expecting another year of experience and an off-season of work to do the trick.
Oh, and in the past, people have made comparisons of Webb with Big Cat Williams. Uh, no. Don't insult Big Cat that way, at least not yet. Webb has shown NOTHING to deserve such a comparison other than being big and playing Offensive Tackle for the Chicago Bears.
The Greatest form of revenge is MASSIVE success.

Moving from LT to RT Brown is getting 1st team reps at RT. This line could get interesting if we can only get the right people is the right spots. Yes I know as it stands right now he won't be the starting RT but its nice to see we are at least working with him.
I'd love for Webb to take a quantum leap in his play. I just don't believe force-feeding him a position and believing he'll get better on the fly is the way to do it. If his football smarts were up there or not as important a position per-se I wouldn't mind. Taking a step back with him (making him a swing tackle) could really be a major step forward in his development. Plus it is a way to build actual confidence not his false bravado tweets.
