can't imagine this.
Extend him in the bye week. We would know if he still "has it" by then and we don't have to worry.
what I dont like reading is Philips told him after this season. So who the hell is the gm Philips or Emery? This should be evaluation between Emery and Lovie then Cliff Stein for the cap stuff.
Emery already said his weakness is that he's not a money man he's a personnel guy which is what we needed. Cliff Stein handles all of the contract negotiations now and Phillips over sees him. It's just that we aren't accustomed to see anyone but JA speak out on this stuff before. JA liked the spotlight and Emery prefers to remain in the background and do what he does. I wouldn't read anything into it.
Urlacher is the face of the team and along with Cutler the most important player on the team. But he's also 34 years old and coming off an injury. So he plays out his deal or somewhere along the line they extend him. Some of it may be about wanting to see what he has left in his tank. Some may be about not having the cap space to do it this year. Or maybe they let him go FA and see what kind of offers he gets with an agreement that they'll match anything within reason.
Brian has said that he wants to play out his days here. We have no one lined up to replace him so I think that's a pretty good indicator that this is all just smoke with no fire.
I don't know that its fair to say that Angelo "struggled acquiring good talent." He wasn't successful with certain positions on this team but he built quite a defense for several years and has left the Bears with a very good core. He's also the man that brought in Cutler and Forte and Hester. We're talking bonafide game changers. In fact, Angelo's first 3 picks in 2011 could be some real stars. He's left Emery with only a few holes to fill. Its just that most Bears fans have tunnel vision. Everything is offensive line, offensive, line, offensive line. Yet they conveniently overlook all the other areas where Angelo was very successful.
