I'm not sure this proves anything, but thought folks might be interested in knowing Forte can drag a sled.

I wish he was just in a uniform with the team.

I wonder what the oline could do to prove they can block this year? Juggle flaming bowling pins? How about our secondary proving they can shut down WR's? Catching greased pigs?

Hmmmm. And Lovie show he can NOW throw the challege flag at the correct time???

And our new 1st round pick DE, proving he can sack QB's?

Urlacher proving his knee is fine?

TE's prove they can now catch?

How about Marshall proving he can stay out of trouble (I know, this is a tough one)?

Tice can call plays well as an OC?

...............help us out here. We need TESTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I'm in agreement about the sled thing. I don't think anyone implied his knees are shot. The article talks about developing an arthritic condition that would cause problems and I don't the mean today.

Personally I think way too much is being made of it now. It's turning into a pissing match and it could get uglier still. I made the comment in another thread that the Trib has always been a huge Bears supporter and of late they taken the Bears side in this dispute more often. At least that's been my impression reading between the lines.

The article all of this was based on was written by David Haugh from the Trib so I guess I'd wonder at least a little bit about his motive. Actually I think that most athletes who use their legs the way a RB does will probably end up with arthritic knees. I know that twelve years of catching in fast pitch softball are causing me some problems but it didn't in my 20's.

This is what happens when things get into the press that maybe are better left unknown. Haugh also seems to disclose Forte's asking price and it's not that I don't believe it's accurate but it also goes hand in hand with the question of motive. Aren't most people who read this going to be more sympathetic to the Bears position. Aren't many gonna say that Matt has a lot of nerve asking for $20 mil when he's playing on bad knees.

The more I think about it the more I think this was more propaganda than news. JMO

Actually, I wish he'd take care of his knees by NOT dragging a stupid sled around. The Bears probably had a heart attack that he's out doing stuff like this - adding yet more miles to his surgically repaired knees :-)

I'm still trying to figure out a good way for J'Marcus Webb to show he can block DE's this year. Synchronized swimming? Bungee jumping? Sky diving? I don't know.......it's all got me worried now. All our players should be doing weird stuff this summer to prove they can play football.

You have to admit Jerry Angelo DID draft the #1 pool jumper in Jarron Gilbert. I'm amazed that JA only had to give a 3rd round pick on Jarron. He couldn't play football worth squat. But nobody could jump out of a pool better than Jarron Gilbert.

Actually, I'd feel more comfortable if Forte was doing pool jumping. That HAS to be easier on his knees than dragging a sled around in the hot summer. Someone should write Larry Mayer about this. Could save our season if Forte doesn't trash his knees this summer on that sled thing.

Maybe dodge ball, but with the object of failing(to dodge)?

I want to see old "Hopalong" Rod Marinelli do some hang-gliding to prove he can coach up the new kid (DE Shea McClellin).

Somehow the mental image I have of Rod hang-gliding is a hoot

The cannon would be the perfect way to see if our cornerbacks were going to be good. Lovie could shoot them out of a cannon. If they could land say, in the 400 sections of Soldier Field it would be Pro Bowl this year for sure. Maybe that's what happened to Peanut last year when HE made the Pro Bowl......Lovie probably gave him some cannon reps.

That's even better than Forte on a sled.
