From what I could find on the Internet, he ran a 4.56 at his pro day. I know there's a lot more to "speed and quickness" in a WR than one 40 yard time, but that's hardly "great" or special by a long shot. He might become an intriguing prospect if these reports pan out in TC/PS, but to anticipate anything more than a Practice Squad spot for this guy is a big stretch at this point.

I think the 6th and final WR spot on the regular roster is going to boil down to Devin Thomas vs. Sanz since Knox looks all but IR'd already for this year.

Very on point except for the minor detail that it's pretty much the fifth spot people are fighting for since Weems is only a WR by name and will occupy that sixth spot regardless, IMHO.

You're right. I don't want to "crown" the guy yet. But one report from OTA's said he was giving our #2 draftee, Jeffrey, good competition. Summers is from a no-name college so I don't think it's too unusual that he didn't get too much notice for the draft. The Hall of Fame has plenty of undrafted players represented. And as for guys from no-name schools working out in the NFL, Jerry Rice and Walter Payton were not exactly from football factory schools ...and they did pretty well :-)

Here's the deal. You don't find 6'5" speed guys with solid hands under every rock. I'd hate to lose a guy like this on the PS.
I think the competition that he was referring to was the level of CB play and overall defenses he faced week in, week out in his college career. Jeffery faced SEC opponents while Summers played mostly against other minor conference teams. Big difference there.

Yeah, you can find surprising "diamonds in the rough" among UDFAs and small schools (and that would be fantastic if it happens here) but realistically Jeffery is on the 53 man team and Summers might make the PS. We shall see.
