Excerpts from the article:
Carimi returned to the practice field for the first time Tuesday, participating in an OTA workout on a limited basis. A day later, the 6-7, 316-pounder was pleased with how his knee responded.“I woke up and it felt great,” Carimi said. “We always had planned that [I wasn’t] going to practice [Wednesday], so I get to come out [Thursday] and do what I did Tuesday, so it’s going to be great.
“We’re just taking it slow right now—team review and individual [drills], stuff like that—but it’s going great. I feel like I’m explosive off of it right now and I’ll hopefully keep progressing and get even better.”
Carimi is expected to regain the starting right tackle position and is eager to continue his development after his progress was stunted by his knee injury as a rookie.
“I don’t know if there were really any positives out of the whole situation,” Carimi said. “I was here, still with the guys, watching film, seeing what they’re doing, but there’s no substitution for actually going out there and doing it. You can say all you want, ‘This is what I do, this is what I should be doing.’ But that only goes so far when you have only seven seconds to assess it on the field. It doesn’t really carry over.”
Making steady progress in his recovery, Carimi is not worried about suffering the same injury to his knee.
“I’m real confident it is not going to happen again,” he said. “I got the surgery that will prevent the knee dislocation and I have a knee brace with a patella protection in it.
