I would hope they'd find away to keep Clutts if only as a backup LS and ST guys. That's how he caught the Bears eye to begin with.

It's weird, listening to the top 100, Rice credited his excellent year b/c of Vonta leading the way. You would think the Bears would take the hint. Let Clutts lead the way for Bush/Forte/Bell, help get them to that 2nd level.

I'm biased towards Clutts but with a fledgling line and as a ST player(and LS) I don't see how you cut this guy. If Okoye was still on the team then I could see Melton in the backfield maybe on one play or two in a few games but certainly not now.

That seems reasonable to me too. I just couldn't understand using Melton when we have others who could fill that role & not risk Melton unnecessarily to injury.

Hahaha I'd love to see another Fridge on the Bears team. I wasn't born back then, but everytime I see him play on tape I laugh my ass off. It's so genious even tho it first started out by mocking someone, it was great! I'd love to see the Bears with a Fridge v.2 we gotta draft one next year.
But at the end of the day it'd be risky, I don't feel we got propper backup for Melton and having him injuried would hurt us a lot.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The guy is our primary inside pass rusher so don't screw around with putting him at RB even if he is capable of doing it. If it's an emergency situation where we're on the goaline late in an important game and we need a score OK maybe we use him to take a shot but as a regular occurrence no. That's how they screwed up Wootton last year trying to be clever and using him to cover kicks.

I wish I saw in Melton what you guys did. He's never impressed me enough to think he'll ever be more then average.

I think I was talking about this w/Mo. Melton's run D really needs improving. And you would think from a former FB that would be something he could nail down better.

C'mon now. The guy was a project player. He had games last year when he provided tremendous pressure from his DT spot. He had 7 sacks last season and the 3T spot is the driving force of the Tampa 2. We'll see what he does this year, but he had a heck of a debut last season. They have developed this guy.
