I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

haha silvy says marshal called in a week ago to talk about hester.
Cutler says what'd he say
Silvy says he thinks hester will have a better year then him
Culter, uh okay...
Culter, I could see it in maybe the first 4 or 5 games b/c teams will be crazy not to double Marshal right now.
Nice way to handle that one Cutty

Did you see the look on Cutler's face when Silvy told him what Marshall said. He may have said, "uh okay", but I think what he wanted to say was, "yeah right". LOL

Marshall wasn't saying Hester > Marshall. I think most of us "get that" and Cutler after his initial reaction, understood where Marshall was coming from with his comment on Hester.
Hester is a MUCH improved route runner now. You can see that with your own eyes. You don't need Marshall to tell you that. Watch his route running in the past season. He is "night and day" better.
Hester's only "crime" was to land on an offense where they tried to use him as a #1 WR. He isn't that guy. He will never BE that guy. But he can be deadly as our "z" flanker or as our "Y" out of the slot. Teams will have their hands full with Marshall, Jefferies & Bennett (and 6'7" Davis). As our Z he can't be jammed at the line of scrimmage. He should be incredible.
Marshall will demand extra defenders. Hester won't even be our #2 WR. In fact, now we will also see TE's used as receiver weapons - in a big way now that Mad Mike Martz is gone. So think of of the opportunities for Cutler to Hester. He will be in a lot of mismatches. And when Hester catches these passes against lessor defenders, he will have YAC like you've never seen before on the Bears. He will have some highlight reel catches all season long.
That doesn't mean he's better than Marshall. He'll just have better opportunities and matchups. And if for some crazy reason teams move their best coverage to neutralize Hester (and I don't see them doing this to be honest) then Brandon Marshall will put up career day numbers.
It's "pick your poison" for defenses. We should be their worst nightmare come true. Enough to have defensive coordinators laying awake at night in a cold sweat.
I love it.

What Marshall said was that Hester could have a better year. I don't think he meant more passes I think he may have meant more yardage. Johnny Knox averaged just a little less than 20 ypc last year. Second in the NFL. If they use Hester well he could easily put up that kind of an average per catch and I think even Jay acknowledged that.
