Im not emotional about this at all. Last season I was emotional about it cause our cupboard was very bare. But now with a real wr and a guy drafted with potential and with the Bush signing I can take a step back and say hey wait......how much is Forte worth to us now? Im just going on thread title of "getting bad advise" and going by that how the hell do we know he is getting bad advise without knowing the contract he was offered?
Logically I think if we gave Forte a long term deal it would overload how much we have invested at RB. And you know me I want my money on the oline! This is a different looking bears O then last year and it has changed the whole landscape to me at least on Forte worth. I was scared to death losing him last season cause that is the only thing JA ever gave us that worked out for the offense(not counting cutler of course)
Soul, the only one spending their time posting articles about the situation and and propping the ones that back his PoV is you.
I've been down w/how both sides have been going about this for some time. I have no issues w/Forte holding out and I have no issues w/the Bears not over paying, and even FT'ing him for 1-2 years. But I also don't have a problem w/them disagreeing. The only problem I have is people that think Forte should just take whatever the Bears are offering b/c it's best for the team; as if that's what's best for him. I don't, and will never have an issue w/someone doing what they believe is in their best interest; ecspecially a RB when they get lucky to have 1 non rookie contract.
My only other issue was the low down bs the Bears fed Forte to get him into camp last year. They showed no interest in trying to sign him unless he took a HUGE sweetheart deal which would have been absurd on his part, after that it was no go; which is why I'm not 100% sold that they somehow decided to up his offer to something that is more along the lines of what others of his level are getting paid. AND I don't necessarily have a problem with that.
If they don't want to give him that money, b/c they either cannot afford it b/c of other signings they see in the future, or they don't value him like that they shouldn't pay him. But don't infur that you have either w/adjetives like Strong(last year) or lucrative this year. Just say we aren't on the same page in his value and we'll see what happens next year.
