Really good point!!!! The greatest show on turf had future HOF'er Orlando Pace at LT and some other very good lineman. One hell of a RB in Marshall Faulk and much much better receivers than the Bears had over the past two years. And yes, Kurt Warner was a damn fine passer when he got time to throw too.
But good defenses eventually catch up to great offenses and with time the players in that offense age and they're not as good anymore. Buddy Ryan coached what I believe was for a few years the best defense ever put on an NFL field and they hit their peak in 1985. Buddy left for Philly and never again coached a championship defense. His sons are now NFL coaches and they play some variations of Buddy's 46 defense but neither of them has one any Super Bowls with it either. Things change and what worked yesterday won't necessarily work today or tomorrow. People need to adapt. Mike Martz either couldn't or wouldn't.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
