    Those are my words BBPB, not Ditka's. Sorry if I wasn't more clear. Ditka said Payton was the greatest all-around football player he had ever seen play. I was the one who said he was good enough to be great as a QB or WR too. I watched Walter play his entire career (Sayers too for that matter). Walter was a rare athlete. It transcended being a one trick pony. He passed for touchdowns (it was beautiful to watch him passing the ball). He could do EVERYTHING well due to the fact he was such a great athlete.

    I believe (this is me talking FWIW) Walter Payton could have been a Hall of Fame level WR or QB. As it was, he was asked to be a RB - so he ended up being a Hall of Fame guy at THAT position.

    Payton had it all.
