According to this place we had the best offseason of the NFCN. I approve.

    GRADE: A-

    Chicago Bears
Key additions: WR Brandon Marshall, RB Michael Bush, QB Jason Campbell, DE Shea McClellin, WR Alshon Jeffery, G Chilo Rachal, ST Blake Costanzo, ST Eric Weems.
Key losses: CB Corey Graham, RB Marion Barber, QB Caleb Hanie, S Brandon Meriweather.
Reuniting Marshall with quarterback Jay Cutler—the two formed one of the league’s best passing combinations in Denver—should make the Bears feel good as they transition away from the Mike Martz offense toward a more balanced attack. Bush will be an excellent complement to—and insurance for—Matt Forte, and Campbell will prevent the Bears from getting into another bind if Cutler gets hurt. They should also expect immediate contributions from McClellin and Jeffery in passing situations.

GB got a B-, Minny a C and Det a D. Think it's safe to say that barring inj's it will be GB and Chi duking it out per usual.

I'm really thankful we got Jason Campbell. He was my first choice for backup, even tho it looked unrealistic at the time. Turns out dude wants a ring before starting for a crappy team..

The Bears really did have a heck of an offseason. A top-10 (arguably top-5) WR, a backup RB who could start on some teams, a backup QB who could start on some teams, high draft picks that fill in key weak spots, top end ST FA's. Really the only thing we can complain about is the lack of attention to the OL. But, even then, we have Carimi coming back and what appears to be a true position battle at LT. I'll take this over just about every offseason Angelo had.

Hanie and Meriweather were key losses???? That's addition by subtraction in my book. Yes, the Bears had a great offseason. Emery really did well walking into a bad situation with little time and not a lot of resources. One reservation though, I've heard that Campbell has been looking horrible at QB throughout OTAs and minicamps. Inaccurate, slow, weak, off-target, and not reading past his first dump-off target. I'm not convinced he'll be ready to take over should something really bad happen. But that's another thread. Big high five for Emery's first offseason. Can't wait to see what he does next year having had a whole year to prepare and a full slate of draft picks.

I'm never going to worry to much about the backup qb though, they won't be the reason you win a SB. If he's playing significant time we're screwed. But if he only has to play 3-4 games it will be nice change of pace to know we can have a chance to win.

I'm more happy w/the draft and the other aquisitions to provide legit competition to the starters, or legit depth at those positions.

well to be fair, I think it was more they HAD to put something as a key loss, and we really didn't have any.

It was certianly one of the best off-seasons I can remember. My own expectations for this year are sky high. It looks like most of the fan base is expecting us to reclaim the NFC-N and make a serious run at a Super Bowl this year. If the team falls short, it's going to be a crushing blow to the fans.

    Are our expectations too high?

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.
