"Can the Chicago Bears Still Upgrade via NFL Trades?"

My initial reaction to a trade (or picking up a cut player) is that we may be able to pick up a depth player or two. But it seems like picking up somebody's training camp roadkill. Dumpster diving.

Also, there are a few olinemen that are still unsigned free agents. Not starter quality but maybe worth a look as depth at tackle. They have "issues" but maybe it would make sense to pick up one of these for depth at tackle (Brandon Keith, age 27, would be one. A couple of old guys are still out there. Kareem McKenzie & Max Starks).

Free agency has largely passed until roster cuts start during preseason. Until then teams must go forward with what they have unless they have plans for something bigger. Could the Chicago Bears solve their problems through another NFL trade?

IDK. Aren't there usually a few decent July 1st cuts?

LOL, Cutler, Marshall and Clady, that would be interesting. I guess they are all used to wearing Orange and Blue. Not going to happen, and I'm kinda surprised it even made it into print (what am I saying...no I'm not). That said, it's an interesting bit of discussion and it's not a thread about Forte and his tag, well, not completely anyway.

While I would hate to see either Forte or Hester get traded, and as unlikely as it probably is, I would still love to see Clady anchoring that left side. I'm sure Cutler would love it. And then we wouldn't have to worry about finding a spot for Sanzenbacher.

I'd love to see Clady too. Tice made his bed though saying the line is ship-shape. I wouldn't trade Hester this year esp with all the extra ST players now. Forte for Clady??

I don't see Clady going anywhere. Teams that have great LT's simply don't usually let them escape. They are too valuable. Now if Josh McDaniels was still at Denver, he'd trade his own mother away......wish he was still there for the comedy aspect.

Forte got Franchise Tagged...no way any team is going to give up a couple 1st rounders for him.

I don't see the Bears trading Hester or Forte. We've finally gotten to the point with Hester, that he could be a nice extra weapon to have at WR. He's worth more to us, than what we'd get for him in trade (not much in trade value IMHO). Forte is somebody I think we'll need to make a serious Super Bowl run. RB's drop like flies to injury, so I really like having the high-quality RB's we have - with Forte on the roster.

Clady has been a good pro but you're talking about dumping some serious money into that player. The Bears have a lot of guys they have to lockup after this season and giving away a huge chunk of that cap space Clady is just not a good business move at this time. Besides, I don't see the Broncos moving Clady for Forte or Hester.

Yeah, I agree with you. What I would like to see is for us to keep upgrading our oline through the draft. It's the best way to build a great oline, and it's the best way to keep it a great oline.
