I agree with you, but the players voted it this way. When I consider this fact, I understand that the players don't see Cutler as having proven himself yet. He's showed tremendous promise, and undoubtedly will prove himself this year, now that he has WR's worth a crap, and is allowed to use TE's as weapons (now that Mad Mike Martz is gone). I think (hope) the oline will be decent enough for Cutler and our offense to shine - and showcase some offensive players for that top 100 list next year.
Peyton made it because the players have THAT much respect for what he's done in his career. Yes, it's wrong for him to be on the list because he didn't play. But I do understand the players hold him in THAT high of a regard. On the other hand, the Bears have been an embarrassment on offense for most of the past 50 years (with a few notable exception years). Cutler isn't going to get the love that Manning got.

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

I don't disagree w/that sentament. But the Players are the ones doing this poll, and I think their opinion holds a lot of weight. I think the point was very clear, Peyton w/the Colts has always been a potential playoff team. You take him away and they are a lottery team. That is an impressive freefall. And Peyton has the credentials to back that up, Cutler doesn't.
Again, if healthy I think you're going to see a lot of players heads turn w/what JC does this year and he will debut very high on that list.

I've been listening to the players on the NFL channel as they talk about each one of the Top-100 players. I get the clear impression it's not the stats that they vote for, but more of a respect for each player's ability (and they do factor in past performance.......and that's not what they're supposed to be doing, but being human it's how they look at these 100 players).
Still, the Tebow thing was interesting. I do think his ability to put a team on his back and carry them to wins late in games last year, resonated with the players. Tebow's statistics suck. His ability to carry a team to wins - and the playoffs - last year was something the players respected.
Cutler was just another Bears QB on an 8-8 team (to the voting players). Could've, should've, would've stuff the voting players don't care about. Cutler will have to prove himself by taking the Bears to a great season before he's going to get respect by his fellow NFL players in that Top-100 vote.

Interesting. I think I am in the minority in that I consider Tebow a really good football player. Maybe not so much a really good QB, but he is a baller. Better than Cutler? Nothing against Cutler, but maybe a better person, but no way a better QB.
i agree that neither Cutler nor Tebow should be on that list, but i fully expect Cutler to legitimately be on it next year. Tebow willed his team to the playoffs and that is why he is on that list, but Cutler carried his team through many wins pretty much single-handidly (and the collapse with his injury substantiates that). So that makes them even. But Cutler can make throws that Tebow can only dream of. He doesn't belong on the list ahead of Cutler. I love the guy, but no way.

BiH I think he's a hell of a TE or FB/RB, but he's a horrid qb; and you're seeing that in NJ where a very average QB is smoke checking him. Talk is he's bulking up also which might be a precurrsor to a change in position. I like Tebow the person, although I don't think he's the saint his fans protray him as but he's still a hell of a good person.

I could see Tebow having a lot of upside. He looks pretty rough as a passer, but he is a tremendous athlete, so who knows how good he can be. I'm just going to watch him these next few years and see what happens. I'm not anti-Tebow at all, but I'm not on his bandwagon either. Since he's not a Bear I really don't follow him much (the few times I watched him last year he was a butt-ugly passer).
I hope he does have a great year,

I can't wait to see Cutler and Marshall up high after a great season and everyones backtracking like no wait we liked Cutler I thought he was good! There has to be an infinite amount of sound bits of people bashing Cutler and I look forward to them looking stupid now that he has a legitimate #1.
