    Interesting read on Melton

    http://chi.scout.com/2/1198404.html

We are indeed short handed on the DL and signing Melton to a contract prior to his breaking out is a good idea. Of course the risk is that he never breaks out, but even if he stays the same he is worth re-signing and I think his arrow is pointed up. I agree- sign him now because we can get a deal and he can have more security.

Really good article, thanks for posting. I'm not sure if Tommie is the answer though.

Thanks for the read man. I like Melton, just not in love with him. If he is the answer bonus. But lets see what he does this year before crowning him.

Sign him when his run D improves dramatically.

yeah, but of all the guys we have, he is the most productive and can be gotten cheap (well at least I think he can for now). We have to rebuild as it is. Replacing everyone is not really feasible, so keep the guys that are doing the best. As long as he is not expensive, I really don't see a reason not to.

If they can lock him up with an "affordable" deal they really should do it. The guy has already shown that he could be on the verge of great things. If he has a big year, his price will go through the roof. He's a real young player.

Not really. Melton is a project player playing the driving force position of the Tampa 2. Forte is an established RB playing a position that is clearly not going to be the focal point of this offense in 2012. Pass rushers are way more difficult to find than quality RBs. An as long as the Bears continue to use the Tampa 2, Melton's position will be critical to its success. Not so Forte's contribution's to this offense.
