Maybe this season we'll see Spaeth get an opportunity to be more than a blocker.

For those folks down on Spaeth, I'd point out that while we all want to see our TE's used as receivers again, now that Mad Mike Martz is gone - we still need blocking from our TE's. We need guys who can do both well & Spaeth may be one of those guys.

I'm not sure why people are taking shots at Spaeth. Its a bit of a head cratcher to me. He was a very important cog in the Steelers blocking run blocking scheme and it took a lot of money to pry him away from them. Spaeth is another lineman and that's how we need to see him when he is on the field. If you look back on some of the film from last year, the guy flattens people regularly. BBPB can't stand by and have people put a useful tool into the meatgrinder.

Spaeth could be a decent red zone target too. He has 7 TD's already. He's just a massive target at 6'7" and has good hands. I think it's just a matter of using our TE's as receivers again (in addition to blocking). Matt can block well. I want to see us use him for BOTH blocking and receiving.
