Webb's stats really aren't that bad for a guy playing his first year at LT after never having played that position in the NFL with no real offseason because of the strike.
He played all 16 games and as far as a positive for this guy, he's shown he's durable.
He gave up 14 sacks for the year.
Was penalized 13 times.
Ok now I'll compare him to some of the other cats on this offense.
Roberto Garza. Played all 16 games as a CENTER.
1 sack allowed
2 penalties
Chris Williams Played 9 games at LG.
1 sack allowed
2 penalties
Lance Louis Played 14 games and went from LG to RG to RT
10 sacks allowed
4 penalties
Chris Spencer Played 15 games. Is an NFL CENTER who ended up being moved to RG because of injuries.
1 sack allowed
4 penalties
Edwin Williams Played in 15 games and started 7 of them. Took over at LG for CWill
0 sacks allowed
1 penalty
Frank Omiyale Played in 16 games and started 3 games.
4 sacks allowed
7 penalties
As a team the Bears allowed 49 sacks. And how many times was Cutler sacked during the 10 games he played??? 23 times!!!!
So let's get a grip here. Young player on the left season and those sack totals went through the roof after all hope was lost and Cutler was gone. I think those 26sacks in the last 6 games has more to do with that loser Hanie and the team giving up, rather than a real cause for concern. Besides, does it even need to be pointed out how the entire line was filled with guys playing out of position because of carimi's injury and Kreutz's departure?
