I also see the pass rush as a huge concern. Our defense is predicated on putting pressure on the QB, which we have not been able to do.

As many high round draft picks as we've invested in that dline, and what we've invested in Peppers, how can the dline not be great? I just assume the dline has to be decent this year. But maybe I should be worried. Great. More to worry about...
Regarding the oline, I "get it" that we should be ok if the LT position is solid. But I see how great we can be on offense if the oline is really solid. We could have the best offense I've ever seen in my lifetime. One of the best in the NFL is a possibility this year.
That excites me.
But on the other hand, if the oline has problems (and yes they could have issues) then we won't see the full, great, potential of this offense fully realized.
It's a big deal to me.

Wow, they have the Saints and Lions ahead of us. I just don't see that this year. The Saints are a complete mess this year.

Falcons too!
I think Bengals and Titans are too long, both have better teams than their odds here.
Also think Philly and Denver are too short. I'd have them out around 15/1 (behind us)
edit: Hey admin, just noticed, what happened to my 'Bear bucks' and beers too? booooo!

ProFootball talk has us at 10 to 1 in their magazine(picked up to read on the flight home), and has us finishing ahead of Det. Hells yes!
I still put us at 6 -1 if the OL ... that even Cutler doesnt know what it is ... jells.
As far as DEFENSE ... didnt we draft a first round pass rusher?
Doesnt this compliment Peppers ?

I agree, but I did LOL when I read the part about the oline jellin' because every year "they" tell us how the offensive like is going to be solid once it "jells".......and year after year our QB's get beat bloody out there.
It's like Jessie Jackson saying "keep hope alive"
but the Bears version of it is "just wait until the jellin' happens" and then we'll have a good oline.![]()

We did, but he is a complete unknown commodity at this level, and does not have the prototypical physical attributes they look for at the position. I know that there are MANY great DE's that do not fit the prototypical mold, so that isn't a big concern to me, but he is still smaller than I would like (to be a higher percentage success) and unproven. I'd still say the pass rush is a concern for me. However, I would just LOVE to see him become one of the top pass rushers out there.
The pads are not on yet, but so far haven't heard the normal gushing that comes when you really grab a kid that exceeds your expectations. So we will have to wait and see if Shea is the answer or not. I sure hope so because we need our picks next year to continue filling holes that we haven't addressed yet. Another top pick at DE would mean one less position that we are upgrading.
I can't say I don't think Shea will work out, and I can't say he is going to be the next Richard Dent. I'm just sitting back and hoping....
I'm optimistic on him right now. I just hope he can do it.
