BS, okay weight might not be the issue, but conditioning is:

Second-round WR Alshon Jeffery missed the majority of Bears minicamp with a lower-leg injury.

Jeffery apparently got in limited work on Tuesday and Wednesday before sitting out entirely on Thursday. It's a concern for a player who has struggled with his conditioning, but Jeffery was durable in college, missing just one game in three seasons. He's expected to be fine for training camp.

Conditioning and weight are closely tied though, he might only be 216, but that's not necessarily a good 216. Maybe it is though. But if the guy is not in good enough condition then he's not going to be contributing at a high level, even for rookies.

Not sure if I believe the Jeffrey "weight issues." Not sure how much he'll contribute right away. But I believe a few years from now, many will look back on this draft and recognize that he was the steal of the draft. He has all the tools to be a big time WR and to get a guy like him in the 2rd is a coup.

I'm just not buying. I watched this guy throughout his college career (probably about 3 games per year). He was never hurt (that I was aware of), never bent over sucking wind, could outrun, take a hit and pop up, and blocked pretty well for a college WR.

His stats went down a little in his last (junior) year, mostly because SC jettisoned their starting QB and their backup sucked. They ran the ball twice as much in the last part of the year. People (in my mind lazy ones who scout via the newspaper) looked at his decreased stats and his extra 13lbs and said he had a "conditioning/weight problem". Spurrier didn't think either was true, and though I hate Spurrier, he tells it like he sees it.

Bottom line, until I hear someone from the bears, or witness for myself, that he isn't fit, or can't keep up, or has gained weight, I'm not buying.

Look at how fat this dude is:

But Bearstuff, he missed OTA's b/c of a lower leg issue. So there are reasons to be concerned.

I agree it's not going to be a big or major concern b/c I have no doubt the staff will get him into shape, but it is a concern.

He wasn't the only one who missed OTA's, and no one is questioning the conditioning of the others who did. Maybe it is as simple as an injury. Lovie & crew are nearly as bad as Belichick about disclosing injury info. Everything is downplayed in the press. A twisted ankle can be a "lower leg issue", but not a conditioning problem.

Look, you guys can worry all you want. I'm sleeping fine even after him missing OTA's.

Totally agree. Some many things fall under the umbrella of "lower leg issue." Players suffer non serious injuries all the time that have nothing to do with conditioning. Even guys that workout regularly suffer injuries. It doesn't matter how in shape you are, you can get injured despite all the conditioning. Just ask Andre Johnson who is a physically fit as any WR in the game.

No but all the others were recovering from injuries from last year. No one was held out for injuries from the OTA's.

Honestly, it gives Cutler another guy to get to throw jump balls to knowing that more often than not (We play garbage CB's in our division, and the AFC South, with Finnergan gone and only a few good ones in the NFC East((with one not playing much of last year (amukamura), one a rookie (Dallas' guy) and Rodgers-Cromartie) that if he's any good, he'll be coming down with.

Ive just got a lot of hope for this guy, he landed in the perfect situation

Great WR, QB and running game i honestly believe will make him flourish

I say this because the biggest WR issue Is breaking press coversge but all reports ive seen say that is one of his strenghs...more to learn absolutely but im excited for some reason

The optimism ( that I share ) with the rest of you , comes from just knowing a naturally gifted receiver when you see one. Guys who make it look easy ... like they were born to do it a la Roddy White , who is the type of player Alshon's skill set reminds me of. Same tools and hopefully the same results someday.
What should you call any : Fumble , Hold , Interception , Three and out , or Sack ?

    A " F.H.I.T.S " ? or a J'Marcus ?
