Here's a thought: If Alshon develops into the type of player in the NFL that he was in college, he'll be more popular in Chicago than Brandon Marshall, simply because we'd finally have "developed" that no. 1 WR

He'll also be Marshal's replacement. But we've got a few years before we know if he'll be that good.
What Jeffrey did as a sophomore in college was just dowright disturbing. That doesn't happen every year in division 1 schools. So the talent to dominate at the NFL level is there. I think having Marshall on the roster is going to be huge for his devlopment. We haven't had a player of Marshal's caliber since Jeff Graham and Curtis Conway (when Conway could play).

And how cool is it that Emery didn't stop after acquiring Marshall, but went on to draft a stud like Jefferies too? Emery has had a really solid beginning as our GM. Hope he continues.
Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis
I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.
Best move so far is expanding the scouting dept. imo.
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!

I agree. He "gets it" that being able to accurately evaluate the best player talent is mission-critical to building a solid franchise. One that will be a consistent winner over many years.
I don't know what Jerry Angelo was doing. He got lathered up over a kid who could jump out of a swimming pool well. He loved the "boutique" long shot players. But that "rolling the dice" mentality hurt our team bigtime.

To me, i think a lot of what situation a player comes into decides what kind of player they turn into.
Its just my opinion that a large factor in the difference between a boom or bust has to do with what a player is surrouned by and that can determine how they develop
Im not sayin that personal traits and skill sets are less important but if you look at examples like Matt Ryan to Colt Mcoy (may not be the best one but first that came to mind)
Ryan came into an offense with a star WR very solid runnig game and reliable OL...he flourished with the TEAM around him
McCoy came to a hopeless team with no real threat or winning hopes/attitude...and they drafted Brandon Weeden who may take his job
You have to ask yourself what their careers would look like had they been switched (hypothetical, yes but just for arguement sake)
What i see in Jefferys situation is a chance to be a part on a very good offense and team, to get to play in front of an ambitious fan base with high expectations
He is in a perfect mix at his position, I say this because he is not going to be handed a starting job (or even a single down) or asked to be the "savior" but will have a fair chance to compete for playing time, which some guys thrive in a camp competition enviorment
Brandon Marshall could be a real blessing for his career
1. He can learn from a great established receiver who plays a similar style and has "been there" (rookie impact player)
2. Bmarsh presence on the feild means he will have the luxury of not facing any game plans that key in on him
Jay Cutler will also be a godsend for him...no explanation needed i would assume?
This roster has a ton of veteran guys who seem to realize the clock is ticking and time is now
Just my view not saying im right just kind of how i got my optomistic as hell veiws on this guy

Grizz I agrree, great post.
1) I've stated I think Luck has an = chance to end up like Couch then he does the next Manning b/c he has no line, no run game and limited WR threats to bail him out.
2) One of the reasons SF brought Moss in was he was willing to help any way he could, first thing Harbaugh asked was that he sit in the front row w/his note book and pay attention. He did that b/c of the younger wr's always sitting in back w/their hoodies on not taking notes. Since the meetings started w/Moss in the front, they have moved closer, taken off the hoodies and started paying attention. You might start to see that pay dividens for SF and Crabtree even if Moss doesn't pay dividens on the field.
3)No doubt a great QB is a WR's best friend....and also his worst enemy if he's not doing things the right way.

Thanks, and i completely agree about luck i think that a great point in case in this matter would be luck vs rg3
Rg3 is in a great situation
Luck-uhh no
But to get back to the topic, the big concern was his weight i really dont see that as an issue because if he isnt in tip top shape he will find himself back at So carolina to get a degree so he has a job real fast
And i think a stong locker room with hungry vetran leaders and playing with bmarsh will propell him
Another "behind the scene" to development i believe is confidence and earning coaches/teammates (cutler looking for him more)
He catches a few balls and makes some noise against a piss poor colts team with a good pre season and camp...i honestly think the sky is the limit
Again just my opinon that a lot more goes into sucess/development than just talent and he has as good as a situation as you could ask for to become a force
