I don't think Campbell is a bad plan B. Doesn't work out, then you snag the next best option.

I agree with Henry, defense could use more fresh blood the next couple years. The coaches can keep talking all they want, I'm still looking forward to seeing the O-Line play. If the line is not improved, it not only could be the reason for Plan B, but also can take away many options next offseason.

To be honest, since you always need camp arms I don't mind drafting QB's late and having UDFA's come in every year. You have to play the lottery to win it. Look at Blanchard, honestly the staff (and Matt mentioned it himself) probally never thought he would have stuck around to make training camp.

I don't consider Cutler elite, not so far anyways, but he is a great starter. That is better than most teams have, and I can't wait to see the recieving core in action this year. Balancing out the run game should boost this offense.

Its a good question VJ18. While I'm a big Cutler fan myself, I still don't believe he's proven himself as our long term, franchise QB. Not until he plays in another conference title game. I need to see more. You ask a good question. What if Cutler some how had the unthinkable type season? Reverts back to throwing picks and just can't lift us above winning teams this year? I think you have to give him another season for sure, but I'd be cocnerned if Cutler somehow fell apart this year. To tell you the truth, if that happened this year, then I think we'll also see a UFO land on the White House lawn.

I can't even fathom the idea that Cutler would fail us this year. But you never know right...

Btw, if Cutler somehow does flop, I attribute it all to shacking up with that dopey bimbo Kim whatever her name is. I will not be surprised if he's divorced in 5 years. That broad is just bad news and I'm actually quite surprised that The Cutler would mess with a dinky broad like that. Sheesh the guy could do so much better.

I guess this is a good "what if" scenario...likely, no but good to generate convorsations in the dead part of the year

He def has "slack" and even a horrific season this year wouldnt warrent him being on a chop block

Only way i see a qb taken in 1 or 2 is if

Cutty has a "long term injury" that is a threat to reoccur (ACL,Concussion, throwing shoulder serious injury)

Or he has an absolutely laughable season im talking like 35 picks and 7 tds lol

He does something extremely stupid off the feild (almost impossible it seems)

More realistically i would say we could take a backup/future guy if our OL plays great and look like a long term group and there are no pressing needs

Still if thats the case were taking a LB imo

    1. We won't get a better QB
    2. If he sucks we still can blame the OL

    3. Extend him already

First off if for some unforeseen reason Cutler had a bad year this year, it won't have much affect on his future contract with the Bears since he doesn't have to sign a new deal this or before the start of next year. If he were to have two real bad years here, I still think we would resign him, but the deal would have to favor the Bears in that they could cut him after couple of years if need be. This would give us the chance to either draft, trade, or pick up someone in FA.

The biggest thing I see wrong about your scenario is that if we failed as a team this year that it would fall on Cutler. Even if Cutler had a bad season, the blame would have to be spread throughout the Offensive, the O line sucked, the Forte and Bush didn't get the yardage needed, the WR didn't go after the ball better, and maybe most of all the play calling. If the Offense fails this year it won't be totally on Cutler, as many have said 45% of our Offensive came from Forte, he got the deal and he got his money, now more then ever he has to show he is worth every penny.

Im a huge bear fan but i sit back and wonder... Now lets try to keep this civil as possible... And no JC is god and Cutler is the man. I'm dead serious here because this site is the most down to earth bunch of guys ive had the pleasure of talking with but honestly If cutler doesnt prove himself with this team is it time to move on to another direction?

It's hard to draft a franchise QB. There are a lot of misses, even with 1st round QB's. So it's not like we can just go out and get another Cutler. He's the best Bears QB that I've seen in my lifetime as a fan (over 50 years of watching a small army of Bears QB's). He will probably end up as being our best QB in the 90+ year history of the Chicago Bears franchise.

The problem hasn't been Cutler. He has all of the skills and physical ability. We just haven't given him weapons to work with (until this season). It's like having a powerful racing car - but no fuel or tires. Hopefully, the offensive line will allow him to USE the new weapons we've acquired this year.
    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

That being said, if he should have trouble at this point, I'm not sure I'm selling. Maybe I wouldn't give him max bucks on an extension, but I wouldn't sell.

I stuck w/ Grossman, because he was a Bear. I won't say I didn't cringe from time to time, or even wish they would pull him in games. I also felt the same about Orton.

My main question, and I think the team's should be too, is "who are you going to get that is better?"
Don't forget that he has a REAL QB coach again, one that he may fight with, but has a great report with also. Seeing how he didn't get very long with Cutler, yet Cutler still put up amazing numbers with him, that's a really good sign. Also, McDaniels didn't think he was a better QB than Matt Cassell, and he thought the Broncos would be just as good without Marshall. That is gold, IMO...
