LOL, JJ in the worst days of my foolish youth even I knew enough not to drive around with weed in the car. If an itinerant musician like me gets stopped for a traffic check late at night the first thing they want to know is if you've been drinking and the second thing they'll ask is if the can search your car including your trunk and every guitar case you have in it looking for drugs.
Tell ya' a funny story.
I once got stopped on my way back from a casino gig up in Blackhawk just as I was about to pull onto I70. He breathalyzed me and of course I blew zero's because I don't drink when I perform. Kind of messes up your timing. Well that must have frustrated him so he asked if he could check my car.
You know legally you don't have to allow that without a search warrant so I hemmed and hawed around a little just to mess with him then finally said OK. So he shines his flashlight in and checks under the seats and then the glove box and console and of course finds nothing but my pack of Menthol 100's, LOL.
So he's says "open the trunk". By now I'm pissed so I play him harder and say "you asked to search the car not the trunk" So we do the dance with him claiming he has that right and my telling he doesn't so he gets really pissed and calls for backup thinking he's on to something.
So another of Colorado's finest shows up and we dance again. Finally acting pissed I pop the trunk and show them there's nothing there but my guitars. Aha, "whatcha got in those cases bud.....orbud? (depending on the whether or not that was phrased as a rhetorical question or a real one, haha). Now they want me to open the cases so I humor them and I open the cases proudly displaying my Custom Shop Fender Telecaster and my Taylor Acoustic.
Now they want me to start disassembling them so they can do a complete cavity search on my poor guitars.The didn't even have any surgical gloves so I told them no. They insisted so I said fine you arrest me on suspicion and take me into Golden to the jail. Then you get the proper tools and YOU can open them up if you don't believe me when I tell you that I'm not carry a hundred dollars worth of dope inside my $5000 worth of guitars. But I said, if one of them so much as gets scratched you can pay to have it repaired and then pay to have it restrung and setup again because I just know you'll foul that up too.
I guess they finally figured even a bust for possession that would only take place if they planted it wasn't worth the hassle so after about an hour of this crap they grudgingly let me go. I really haven't smoked weed in years but if I did it would be in my house and that's where it would stay.
I question the intelligence of any 6 ' plus black man weighing over 250lbs having anything illegal in his car if he gets stopped. You just know they're gonna go looking just like they would with a musician.

Anyways this is a non issue, he wasn't going to do much for this team this year anyways. I'm not worried about Collins missing a few games.
He may make it at that 4th spot but you're right. Even missing a game won't have much of an impact if he even makes the roster. It may do more damage to his chances of that than anything else.
But I just can't get over the number of these guys who get busted for weed or DUI's or DV or you name it. Like I said before they've been given life in a rose garden and they want to keep digging it up to plant weeds.
That deal with Britt was just so stupid. Jeez spend some of those millions and hire a damn chauffeur and then get as buzzed as you like. These guys aren't getting let off the hook like they used to and that's good.

I can't top your story, but I have one to add.
Years ago my wife and I were driving from Colorado Springs to Loves Park, and yes I was doing 55 miles an hour in 40 mile an hour speed limit. Just before I hit Loves Park, a Loves Park cop comes out of no where. Of course I stop, first question he ask me "do you know how fast you were going" my answer why don't you. After asking for my paperwork and me giving them to him. He comes back after reading my license, with "so your kind thinks your above the law", my reply to this was just give me the damn ticket and I'll be on my way. Oh it doesn't work that way in my town, your not in Denver anymore, your going to jail. Getting pissed I asked what the F for "well for doing 25 mph over the speed limit, the speed limit sign that read 30 mph was like 2 feet from the front of my car and the Loves Park sign wa about 10 feet away.
Then he asked for my wifes ID and she said it was in the trunk, the open the truck and get. my answer one words F***off, "well I guess we'll just add resisting arrest to your speeding ticket. Just then a CHP car was coming out of Loves Park and made a U turn behind the police car.
The LP cop told me to stay put and went back to talk to the CHP officer, after a couple of minutes the CHP officer came up to my car handed me my papers and said you can go. The hold time the LP cops is in the CHP officers face before I can start my car and get out of there, the CHP officers slammed the LP cop to the ground and has him handcuffed. As I am looking back at what is happening the CHP officer, says "F***ing Raider Fans" and waves me on.

I've twice been pulled over for suspected DUI, the 1st time I'm not sure how the hell I got out of it. My friend and I went to get some owed funds from a friend of ours, and maybe then hit some bars down in IU. Dude wasn't around so we just went to get dinner and drink a little. At 1AM we've split a couple 3 pitchers and the guy that can "hold his alcohol" tells me he's to drunk/tired to drive. I remind him the last time he let me drive his car for an all nighter(another longer story); So I get in his trans am and we hit the road; take it I'm considered the lightweight of my friends, and am tired as hell myself. And if anyone has ever made the trip from IU to I65 to get back to north knows during the best of times that is a shitty boring drive; at 1AM there is literally nothing. I started to get sleepy and was swurving a little, and a cop eventually pulls me over and I know I'm done, there is no way I'm not blowing over. So I wake the dude up and he tells me to put a penny in my mouth....seriously...and falls back to sleep. So the officer pulls me back and has me blow; just then another cop pulls up and they look at it together, chuckle and tell me to go back to the car. Cop walks back up and says, so you were swurving I suppose to find a cd under the seat? Thinking that was a better lie then drinking all night and falling asleep I said yep. Guy lets me go w/out a ticket. To this day I don't know what the thing blew, but God was looking out for me.
The 2nd time the cop wasn't near as cool. We had a good friend die tragically, and were coming back from the bar after the wake. Everyone was trashed and not even close to done drinking at 10, so I decided I'd be the nice guy and stop and drive everyone home. Heading up at 1am on a empty 3 lane street I get pulled over for doing 8 over. The cop, encouraged by a drunk being a smart ass asked me how much I'd had to drink. I let him know we were just heading back after a wake and I was just driving people home and I had nothing since 10pm sir. His responce was I DIDN'T ask you WHEN you last drank, but HOW much you'd drank. I rolled my eyes and said 7-8(I'm 6'5" and 260 lbs), this prick thinks 8 beers over the course of an evening that ended more then 3 hours is gonna blow something; F him...see the last story I was in far more trouble then. So he takes me back and I blow, nothing. He's like well you blew under, my response, I know I told you I hadn't had anything to drink since 10; BUT I am giving you a ticket for speeding. I'm like thanks officer, can I get my friends home now before their wives throw a fit? F'n jag. Seriously the most inconsiderate jerk of a cop I've had the misfortune of dealing with; and I've delt w/plenty and always been, or at least tried to be respectful. This guy deserved none though.
Soul, I agree, you wanna get trashed at a bar, hire a driver. All your damn friends/family are being paid by you anyways, make them earn some of it. And if you wanna be part of something more nefarious; hire THEIR friends friends Friend to do it for you, arm's length and all.
Talk about getting out of a DUI, I was on I-25 and yes I had been drinking and drinking a lot and of course as always driving too fast. Just as the cop asked for my driver license when a truck full of young kids drives by and yell something I was way to drunk to know what they said. The looks right at me says "you stay here I'll be right back" I wonder if he is still looking for me, because I got the H out of there. Back then the ticket wouldn't have been that big a deal, but damn I didn't want to have call my wife.
Go the frat route. Put a clothespin on your nose and suck it down.
