Maybe they think it's like golf, you need a handicap.

Maybe he thinks with other threats around him he can safely catch the ball before he gets hit and not have to worry so much.

In his case it should be last down. Why do teams keep paying the guy a mil plus per year just to show up and embarrass them? I mean how much worse does it have to get than Martz bragging that this turd would catch 70-80 balls last season. I doubt he caught that many including the ones he actually held onto in practice.
