Do you think Harvey Unga has any chance to make the team?

He looked great yesterday. My son, a pretty sharp football guy, said he noticed that Unga was just as agile/quick as any of the RB's yesterday. He blew through the agility drills as well as Forte (who is impressive to say the least).

It almost makes me feel sick to think we'd cut a guy this talented. Now that he's healthy.

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

He'd have to beat out Bell who has been able to produce with the limited opportunities he has had. The only knock on Bell has been his case of the dropsies. Or, I guess if he showed enough in training camp they could keep four RB's and drop Clutts. But, because Clutts is a good special teamer and backup long snapper, that may be an uphill battle as well. It's hard to say. The coaches obviously like Unga since they've kept him around despite him not playing (for whatever his reasons were), but it still seems like it'd be an uphill battle.

    release devin thomas...

Seriously tho: a dude that big that's agile and fast has SOMETHING to bring to the table, but if he's not good enough, with this depth chart, that's better for us. Never seen him play, so I can't really say either way. God, I miss Bourbonnais.

I think, unfortunately, he's the odd man out. They brought in way to much talent for him to be able to jump over to make the squad. It's going to be hard to cut people as is.

Stranger things happen every season. He's in my top 55 most likely list, so it is not even remotely outside of the realm of possibility. He'd have to do some great things in the PS against inferior competition with late game reps to do it, though. Then he'd have to prove himself on ST to boot.

I've watched Unga since his high school days at Timpview High in Provo. (Paea was on that team also, but didn't really stand out at the time... funny how things change) I will be pulling for him no matter what, if he gets cut then I hope he catches on somewhere else.

My gut feeling is that he'll play for an NFL team this year if it's not us. I agree with those who said it's an uphill battle for him to make the Bears roster. Bell has to have a lock on that #3 RB slot. Clutts is set due to his versatility as LS and special teams. And heck, I could see the team having to cut Unga AND Clutts before the dust settles.

That would suck. But either way, keep us updated on what you see/hear while at training camp. Wish I could go.

His situation is unique, however, if he were to clear waivers (if he gets cut), we could still sign him to the practice squad.

I like the kid and hope we can keep him.
