Wise, successful people learn as they go along in life, especially in a management role. They fail at times but they learn from their failures. Idiots who think they know it all seem to never reach a high potential. This isn't just a "coaching thing" but a "life thing" IMHO.
Tice seems to be wise enough to evolve and learn from his past experiences in the NFL. It sounds like he will be "The Man" at OC - but he will listen to input from Bates and Cutler, and not be afraid to go with their suggestions. This is critically important.
Under "Mad Mike" Martz we had a guy who thought he knew everything. That's a foolish approach. You end up failing if you can't learn, adapt & evolve. It's especially true in the NFL. But again, it's a "life thing" too.
p.s. I can even see that Lovie has evolved for the better over the years. It's great to see that.
