Chicago Bears State of the Bears: TE

State of the Bears: Tight End

A trend has formed in the league at the Tight End position. Big-play guys like Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski are becoming the norm. The Bears are evolving from what was a pass-happy offense that required a lot of blocking from tight ends and are now in uncharted territory with Mike Tice as the OC. We will soon see in what direction the TE position will go....

I've been thinking they're wanting to use Evan Rodriguez out as the H-back like Kleinsasser, although Kleinsasser outweighed him by like 20-30 lbs..

Nice graphic. Give guys a handle on how these guys line up and the differences between the SE the Flanker or a Slot Receiver and an H/Back and a TE.

Now last time I checked there is only (1) Jimmy Graham and (1) Rob Gronkowski. Both these guys are in a very unique category and NO, big play TEs are not becoming the norm as very few teams even have a big play TE. Now there may be a desire for some teams to get a TE like those guys but they do not exist at the moment.
