We had one of the elite special teams in 2006 with hester and Robbie Gould. Our offense was not that bad even under Ron Turner calling the plays.

Yea the defense was great but the team was dead in the water with no QBs. When you have shit QBs you don't have a great all around team.

85 bears team, 99 Ravens team won a superbowl without a great qb. McMahon had some great games but he was not a great QB. Having one of the greatest defenses along with the greatest RB on your team helps win championships. The 2006 team was good enough to win a superbowl even with Rex Grossman playing yet he was not the only reason we lost to the colts. Second having a great qb does not mean you will win championships. The 2006 bears defense won games for us that year along with the special teams giving us great field position and scaring the crap out of teams that had to punt the ball.

I'm not talking about the '85 Bears or '99 Ravens. I'm talking about what we had for QBs in '05 - '06 that buried us. Grossman sucked. Orton sucked. They both killed any chance of us winning a SB. Grossman was atrocious in that SB loss. Everybody who saw the game saw a lost QB out there. I'm glad he's gone. He was horrible.

I saw all the games and I recall our Mighty defense getting schooled by Steve Smith in 2005 and in the superbowl I recall our wonder HC doing what he does best and not make any adjustments in the second half of the superbowl yet Petyon Manning had a freaking day to throw the ball to who ever he wants. Good coaches made adjustments in key games for example hester runs the kick off back for a score so what does Dungy do, he eliminates hester by not kicking the ball to him. Grossman did make some mistakes yet there were plenty of other players and coaches to blame for that loss.

Cutler, Bates & Tice will be an incredible combination with the offensive play scheme and play calling. Tice will be in his 3rd year with this oline and I believe we'll be solid there. Just sit back and watch the fireworks on offense this year because you're going to see something we haven't seen in the 50+ years I've been a fan.

Marinelli is an older coach that I have a deep respect for. Guys like Peppers, Urlacher, Peanut and Briggs would die for this guy. Clearly they believe he is one hell of a D coach. I do too.

Lovie was greener than a gourd when he came here. Zero HC experience. It's been one heck of a bumpy ride as he climbed the learning curve. He's made a lot of mistakes, but he's learned from them. By now, I think he's over that learning curve and can be a rock solid head coach for us. Frankly, I believe he was given crap talent under Jerry Angelo (with some notable exceptions).

This is clearly the best talent we've had since the mid 80's. You can't compare this team with the 0-16 Detroit. Well you can. But you might as well compare us to a volleyball team then. The 2 have about THAT much in common.

And the 2011 Eagles? They really don't have any comparables to this team either. None really.

One other thing. This team has more "quality" depth than I've seen in many years. Training camp actually has some drama and meaning this year due to this fact. That can have a huge impact upon a Super Bowl run this year. Injuries happen. We actually have some decent #2's in place for when that happens. Not too many teams have this luxury.

So here's the deal. I'm gonna sit back and enjoy watching one of the best Bears teams of the past half-century that I've been rooting for these guys. I'm gonna savor every heartbeat and every snap.

It's a GREAT year to be a Chicago Bears fan!
    Very well said.

    Exactly.

Grossman's pick-six killed us in the Superbowl.
