    Defensive Line

I know it's not something that is easy to accomplish but what if all these pieces fall into places? If Corey Wootton avoids the injury bug and comes into his own and Gibson has success while we have McC waiting in the wings and developing.. we could have a very impressive onslaught of rushers at DE. Hell the whole DL is oozing with potential. If we can live up to the potential these talented players have I think Chicago is going to be scary to play on defense. All this offense talk is beyond exciting but I'm also very impressed and excited with the defense. Barring injuries (as always) they have the potential to be a dangerous group, especially if the offense can hold long drives and not wear the D out.

Wootton could be the piece of dynamite that sets this whole thing ablaze. I know we've eben teased by this guys natural talent but everything that was said last season prior to his injury, indicated that the light had gone on. He's a big man with outstanding speed for his size.

Exactly, the guy could be an absolute monster on the edge. We could end up having a surplus at DE, which is never a bad thing. I'm very, very optimistic about this crew of guys.

The DL is something I have been really concerned about, so seeing a dominant DL would just thrill me

Another guy entering his 3rd year in the NFL. The light seems to often "go on" in that 3rd year. Fans often give up on players too soon. You may not know what you have in a guy for a few years. It's not the end of the world if a guy isn't lights-out good from day-1 of his career.
    Trestman - Kromer - Tucker - DeCamillis

I'm looking forward to seeing these guys coach. Hope they're good.

And you don't think the DL could help against the pass? We were at the bottom of the pile as far as sacks in the NFL and Peppers accounted for a large percent of our sacks we did get. If we get a ferocious pass rush, all of a sudden our pass defense improves. Thats how this Lovie defense works, it needs to get pressure with the front four. If we get lots of pressure our pass defense numbers will be impressive, we have ball-hawks back there.

Jackie - the thing is that the scheme you use predicates other things. The cover 2 assigns 2 safeties back there to cover the deep ball and they have to cover a lot of ground. When there are lots of WR's to defend, it's tough and the more time the QB has, the more chance of getting a deep ball that the safeties have to defend. So the cover 2 works best when the QB doesn't have time to wait for the WR's to get deep. That means it works best by pressuring the QB. (well all defenses do, but especially the cover 2)

Using the cover 2, we really need to get more pressure on the QB than we have gotten.

The only Qb that was getting pressure last year was ours.

Pass rush must improve and although shea is the talk I think it will come more likely from the interior

Pressure up the middle helps the outside rush tremendously as well as leads to arrid throws due to the qb not being able to step up

On a side note I just Found out about the iPhone app for this site..it's awesome seeing that I've never posted from anything from my phone..kudos to whoever got this done

I would love for the pass rush to improve but the big but is not at the expense of our rushing defense. I like the bigger dlinemen that keep our LBs free and stop the run. If we move to smaller guys just to rush the qb like we did after the superbowl with guys like Anderson starting teams will gash us similar to what happened to Philly last year
