I really hope he nails down the position and frickin kicks ass and takes names. I am certainly not going to root against a guy on the Bears.

I am pessimistic about this being the actual outcome. Hiding his deficiencies by chipping w/ a back or TE, or rolling Jay out away from the rush is a more realistic scenario, and hopefully one that works well enough to take us deep into the playoffs. At the very least, if the holding/false starts can be mitigated, I will be somewhat placated.

Either way, I don't miss false start Fred Miller. Or turnstyle ohmyhell.

Webb get's reps w/the Firsts at LT for the 3rd straight day...don't think it's much of a competition anymore.
    Gabe/Cwill sharing RT duties.

Per usual Shea getting pushed around.

Paea playing w/the firsts and Toe w/the 2nd's.

Weems/Hester/Ulracher sitting out. Roach is playing MLB(according to tweets from various reporters)

Doesn't sound like CWill was ever given a realistic opportunity to win the LT job at all. What did he get...like 2 padded practices with the first team?

Either Webb has obviously improved by leaps and bounds already or the outcome of this "competition" (in name only) was all but pre-determined. Webb better eliminate the embarrassing games and be a consistent C+ starter come September or Tice isn't going to be looking so good anymore. The (previously understandable) excuses are gone now.

If true, what does this mean for CWill? He's the swing OT and out of the starting OL lineup? It doesn't look likely under that scenario that he's going be sticking around in FA next offseason.

MPB, if it helps to understand, in the first few days of camp, the only LT Shea was beating was CWill...I think they know all to well that he cannot handle the LT position.

fyi Shea playing w/the backups int'd Campbell. and Briggs did the same to Cutler

Hadn't heard that but makes sense, thanks.

That leaves 2 problems then. Where are they gonna put CW? And who is gonna be the backup swing OT since CW obviously isn't a left sided (even backup) option?

If true, Sounds like CW needs to stay inside and we need to pickup a reserve vet OT off the garbage heap.

I would say yes. I think hell shock some people and play above average this year. Im tired of hearing "he can't play he's a 7th round pick" Dent was an eight and he was "alright" and Jeff Saturday was undrafted and he's been regarded as one of the top centers in the last decade

This year is a make or break I would say if he shows a good improvement he will be "the guy" for the time being

I don't care what round he was drafted in. I base my thoughts on whether he can play or not. SO far, I haven't been impressed. Same with Shea. Just because he got drafted in the first round doesn't mean he can play. Gholston is a perfect example. I'm not concerned about Shea because he is truly raw and I want at least a half season under his belt before I come to any conclusions. I want to see how he moves, etc. So far my issue with Webb is not with his draft status. It's with his game day performance. I am looking forward to a new year.

Im wondering about cwill too? Why wouldn't he be playing LG and who would get the job over him? Anyone have any info on that I thought he was our most consistent OL last year

Agreed. If CW Isn't an option at tackle (damn disappointing since he was drafted as one), then he still was our best guard last year. Tice needs to move him back to LG ("continuity" remember?). That would leave Spencer, EWill, Rachal, and maybe Henry to battle it out for 2 backup spots on the interior of the OL.

Also...we still need a swing OT even if Webb holds down the starting job.
