    Matt Bowen Tweets

He stated he thinks Conte/Wright will be your starting safeties this year. And says he's been impressed w/Conte's range, technique and footwork
Said Jennings has been starting opposite Tillman all week when someone asked if who was going to start opposite Tillman
And said b/c of Marshal he thinks there will be oppertunities to strike downfield(was asked if he thought the Bears would take shots downfield).
    Starting guards(no suprise) Spencer/Louis.
Asked if they start hardin/steltz over wright if he strugles he said you have to b/c of the tampa 2.

I'd be happier w/Hardin was there instead of Wright but I think we'll at least have some decent depth at the position for a change.

Happy for Jennings, if we could get another legit CB it would be huge; been a long time since we had one besides Tillman.

Don't remember who was saying it but it was like Hub or Zach or Brad Briggs, but one of them said that if they don't keep Brown on the active roster he'll be snatched off the practice squad.

I'm tempted to tweet Bowen and see if I can get him riled up a bit...

    J. Brown needs to remain on the active roster or I am sure we will lose him. He is one of the steals of this NFL draft.

Without a doubt, I hope the Bears don't even dream of putting him on PS, he'll be gone the moment he's off our active roster. Kid could be a damn good player if he's already rising through the depth chart like they say. This team is finally injecting some long over-due youth into the roster. I'm excited.

I agree Chi, and beyond that they're going to have to cut guys that can contribute b/c of the talent level pushing from the bottom up. But I cannot imagine that Brown is one of them. I think the same could be said for Allen.

The final roster is going to be very interesting. I do think we will lose some good players, and there may be a couple that we have to put on practice roster that will be good enough to be picked off.

I guess good problems to have for once, but still hate to see it happen

I agree and am following this with interest. It's nice to have the "problem" of having to cut guys that you hate to let go. Look at RB/FB for example. Forte and Bush are locks obviously. That leaves 5 guys (Bell, Clutts, Booker, Unga, and Allen) competing for 2, max 3, other spots. Bet another team, prob Detroit, is gonna pick up one of our castoffs. I hope we make some really smart choices.

MP I agree teams will definately look at picking up someone we let go from that group. But I think you need to add clutts into the safe area b/c he's also the backup longsnapper, which came in pretty handy last year; and Mannely isn't exactly youthfull. That leaves 4 guys for probably 1 or 2 spots.

I'd like to see Clutts stick as a FB/LS so I hope you're right. He was a pretty good blocker for us last year. That leaves a battle for the RB3 spot (I doubt we will keep 5) and its tough. Both Bell and Allen flashed something last year and I think neither of them would stay unemployed long if cut. Some team will pick them up as a reserve RB. Prob the damn Lions! Lol. Unga we could prob sneak onto the PS if desired.

I asked Matt Bowen about that and he said it would be decided by who can play the best on ST's.
