Dude got his SB ring, and probably doesn't want to put his body through hell just to stay with a team. More power to him. Hope this means we keep Sanz...

Brittan has been impressing also lately, I figure he'll go on PS; but does anyone know if he stands a chance of staying or would someon snatch him up?

Yep, it's official.

Devin Thomas, Giants playoff hero, retires at 25
Kyle Williams, breathe easy: Devin Thomas can hurt you no more.
Thomas, who earned his place in New York Giants lore with two key fumble recoveries in the NFC Championship Game, tweeted Sunday that he's retiring at the age of 25.
Thomas was the 34th overall pick of the Washington Redskins in the 2008 NFL Draft, but he never made an impact in D.C., finishing with 40 catches and three touchdowns in 34 games. After being released four games in the 2010 season, he briefly landed with the Carolina Panthers, before catching on with the Giants in 2011.
The Giants likely aren't defending Super Bowl champions if Thomas didn't do his job on special teams in the NFC title game. His second fumble recovery set up the game-winning field goal in overtime. He recovered the first fumble after alertly realizing a bouncing punt had deflected off Williams' leg.
"I mean, you know, football, it’s just a game," he told the New York Daily News. "I enjoyed playing it for awhile. I had my greatest moments obviously with the Giants. I felt my spirit going other ways. I just felt it was a good time to let the game go. I think this is the perfect time."
That means Sanz will make the 53-man roster.
Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett, Weems, Hester, Sanzenbacher. Sounds pretty good to me. ;-)
25, Healthy alot of money in his pockets with a Super Bowl win and his whole life infront of him? You can't ask for more! But the problem is that you usually start dwelling of what COULD have been. It would have been cool to have a roster battle between him and Dane, though.
Sanz made him shit his pants. This is great news. Don't need another Kreutz hanging around with no desire.

That's the very first thing that crossed my mind too. I do think this may take Sanz of the bubble and I call that a good thing. There are a couple of good looking rookie WR's in camp but those guys have PS eligibility that Sanz doesn't.
Either we keep him on the roster, and IMO we should, or he'll be playing somewhere else and he will be playing. I think the Vikings would jump all over him if we let him go. The kid is just too "sneaky good" to not want to keep around for at least another year to see how he continues to develop. There are a lot of successful sub 6' WR out there who have proven that you don't need to be 6'3" and 220lbs to be effective. I think if they give him the chance he'll show up big time as a slot guy and another key 3rd down receiver.
Maybe the Bears gave Thomas the word that it looked like they weren't gonna keep him and they were preparing to release him so that he could catch on elsewhere. Teams often do that with vets out of respect. So instead of being released he chose to announce he retirement and move on. He can always change his mind later and unretire if another opportunity presents itself. Anyway you look at it he was a 2012 SB hero on STeams so he goes out on top so to speak.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
Honey Badger Don't Care. Honey Badger Don't Give a Shit.

Would you guys now sign former Seahawk Mike Williams to compete with Sanzenbacher during TC and Preseason? It wouldn't hurt us imo.

LOL. Hey brother, shorty and Ric and little bear and some others are all getting way more stuff up here these days than I can, haha. I can't keep up these days. I'm like the 3rd string "clip board holder" charting posts and trying to keep from getting cut in favor of some up and coming rookie. Old age is a bitch.
Anyway good scoop.Much as I hate to lose a good ST guy I'd hate to lose Sanz even more and this opens his door just a little wider.

I think we have a good group of guys on here that either take up the slack or post things we might miss or thought pieces. I think this means Sanz is in!!!!!!
Arguing on the internet is like winning the special olympics, even if you win your still messed up.
Restore the roar!

Had to google this guys name to see who it was. We will miss those 3 TD receptions over your 5 years career.
