Man, it sounds as if Tice is calling him out to "step up" as a human being too. I think part of this may be a way of lighting a fire under Webb to motivate him to pull out all the stops and bust his butt more. About the only thing left is to insult him mom.

We hope that a guy in his third year, Webb, will step up and mature as a football player and as a person

Yeah, exactly. Obviously Webb hasn't lit it up so far in TC, the CW situation notwithstanding. You get the feeling that this kid just thinks it's being handed to him (which it kinda is) and doesn't see yet that SUBSTANTIAL IMPROVEMENT is needed. Sounds like his dedication and work ethic and coachability is being questioned here..and he's being challenged to "get it and show it". Let's hope he does this month because this crap shouldn't need to be said anymore.
The time for excuses is over. He ranked as the worst starting LT in the whole NFL last year and that must change starting in September.

Well, if he doesn't get it, he will. Tice knows his nuts are in the vice. The OL needs to be better and Tice has been behind Webb. Tices wind is going to blow in the same direction as Webbs. That means Tice's patience with him could be short if he does not get better.
Webb is just going to have to get the job done. Webb winning it was fine with me. Totally fine. It was when Tice said that neither person had run away with it that I became concerned. That means to me that we probably have the same level of play we did last year, and we don't have any player able to elevate that level of play on the team. Tice is hoping Webb will take the next step. So do all of us.
My concern with that is that Webb appears to be taking it less seriously than he maybe should be, and that usually is not a precursor to a big step up.

Is the Webb/C Williams thing mutually exclusive? Do you have to hate Webb if you want C Williams to do well (regardless of position)? Can't reasonable fans want both to succeed, especially since the team is dependant upon the line for success?
So far you have brought zero facts to your curse laden tirade. If all you have to lean on is your own opinion, just stop posting in this thread and move on to the next opportunity to alienate everyone.
Winston Churchill:
"Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak."
"If you're not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you're not a conservative at forty you have no brain."

I think almost everyone here wants both men to do well. And it could end up that both of them do have a solid season. The frustration for some here is simply seeing Webb as an underperformer. Part of that could be that it takes time to learn the LT position. But folks don't want a repeat of his performance of last season.
So, it's not being "for" or "against" anyone. Just fans wanting the oline to be solid this year.

BBPB, just think of how great it's going to feel when Webb turns out to be a solid LT this year. You can tell everyone "I told ya so"...
And I'm hoping you get the opportunity too. Are you going to be able to watch the game tomorrow night on TV? I can't wait.

It doesn't even matter anymore JABF99 if Webb turns out to be a player. I've never seen such a negative, always expecting the worst to happen, group of Bears fans like the ones on this site. That's one thing I admire about Giants fans. At least they have a great deal of optimism year in and year out. You would have thunk that Bears fans would finally get excited about where this team was going after they went 7-3 last year. But of course that's nott he case. Its always swing to the negative. And it just gets way too much to be around people constantly pessimistic about their team. I mean you'd think we were the Browns or something. I just don't get it.
